lots of people (myself included) when they look at other teams only look at the recruiting rankings and presesaon polls to determine how a team "should" be doing. It is mind blowing how far we lagged behind in the behind the scenes stuff compared to others up until last year. We truly weren't playing on an even playing field. And I'm not blaming anyone for it, it's our administration's fault. I'm just glad we're now getting up to speed.

And it wasn't about being cheap either. It was a badge of honor to some. Showed how sophisticated we were.

Adams and Evans did everything they could to show the nation how much money we had to our name. Yeah, great...who cares..win some ballgames.

We've finally brought our S&C into the 21st century and left behind Joe Tereshinkis's mandlebaum-style old school ways.

I can just picture joe tereshinski making players sleep on wooden boards and tying them to his car for a jog around campus.

With the talent they are accumulating they'll make at least one SECCG in the next three years and if you do that chances are you're playing for something larger.

Missouri keeps winning the east with recruiting classes that average in the 30s vs UGA's "TOP 10"ish classes.

And I think most UGA fans are seeing the fundamental changes being made, we all like CMR as a man & the vast majority of fans have given him a pass because of those past problems.

BUT... the new president & the change in philosophy of how things are done is removing any/ almost all of the favorite excuses most UGA fans have used over the years, i.e... undersigning, terrible S&C program, the nutritional program, lack of support staff compared to the top teams, no IPF etc...etc... The only things that haven't changed are the discipline policies & the admissions office & I for one can live with those...

Richt is being given the tools, most of the excuses are systematically being addressed. He's gotta sink or swim now, he's basically been given enough rope to hang himself, most of the changes are 6-9 month into implementation, so we'll see what happens over the next 3-4 years....

I think it will be one of the most exciting periods in our history, assuming the coaching staff stays intact.

Baffles us too. Michael Adams is gone and Morehead is in. Seems that the right changes have been made in the last few months to keep up. We'll see how that translates.

not to mention pruitt has been here for 1 recruiting class. This year's class will be even better than last year's.

Didn't UGA fans say the same thing when Grantham was there?

Now that he has his players we should be much improved. You guys had the same problems on D with Pruitt that you had with Grantham.

The only solid D I've seen UGA have in 14 years of Richt was when you Van Gorder as DC.

TG was never known as or thought of as a good recruiter...

yes, and we were for hte most part. The latter martinez years were bad. And grantham did help us change that. his first year was bad, but 11 and 12's defenses were certainly better. Do you disagree? Then 13 was the worst defense in school history, and he was fired.

you have no clue what you're talking about. Grantham refused to sub and even for someone who knows nothing about football, you can SEE a difference. Grantham's linebackers were coached to have their knees all cattywhompus pre snap and have the lb/secondary were scrambling to figure out the call. It was chaos. Pruitt's D is actually well coached, has a playbook that isn't larger than an NFL playbook (unlike grantham's), and everyone is set presnap. You honestly couldn't be more wrong here.

I think VG is clearly the 2nd best, and could challenge for best, DC we've ever had. I loved him here. But if you don't think our defense last year with a first year DC, new scheme, and holdover players wasn't good you're an idiot. We were 5th nationally in pass defense and top 20 in overall defense. We were top 5 the whole year in TO margin. That's all pruitt dude.

Our 2002 team was on par with LSU 2003.
Our 2007 team was on par with LSU 2007.

Just didn't get the same breaks LSU got. UF also got the same breaks in 2006 and 2008.

The biggest difference philosophy wise is Grantham focused on the front 7 and Pruitt focuses on the back 7.

before pruitt got here, for away games the team had to bus the 1.5 hours from Athens to Atlanta to fly out of hartsfield. Now, we'll use Ben Epps which is roughly 2 miles from campus.

Pruitt has gotten us a full support staff, upgraded the S&C, and got raises for assistants. And as mentioned, within 1 year of being here he set plans in motion to begin moving forward with a state of the art IPF.

It can't be understated what he's done for this program.

While I love Pruitt and what he's been doing, I'm not ready to give him credit for all of this.
