I know when I went to school, there were two Texas schools in the U.S. News Top 50 (Rice, A&M). Since they attempted to initiate their "Vision 2020" plan, did away with the journalism school, and let Perry and McKinney (and to a large extent Sharp) meddle way too much, things have degraded.

Thing is US News is not a true academic ranking as the magazine has been caught a few times before changing the rankings based on universities that advertise with them
I have mentioned this on the board once and I will again it all depends on your major if you decide UT or A&M

As well as Cybersecurity, energy exploration (especially with a renewed emphasis on fracking and shale), electrical and electronic engineering, which A&M excels in. (Leader in Cybersecurity is actually UW-Tacoma right now) When I was going through the engineering program, we had NASA PMs sponsoring capstone projects at A&M.

This is the reason why I did not understand why A&M was so against the PAC 12 move. I thought politics and A&M's mindset had a lot to do with it but I did not understand why A&M would be so against joining forces with the research universities on the West Coast. Even going into the BIG would have helped immensely
Research budgets dwarfs athletic budgets at huge research universities and I know you cannot tell me with a straight face that the SEC is helping a&m out at all.

9pm central kickoffs and 10pm central tipoffs.

Not true at all.
During conference play, their kickoff times are 11am pst (Mountain Time Zone Home Team) 2pm PST (1 game), 5 pm pst (1 game), and 7:30 pm pst (remainder).
Their basketball games are almost exclusively 7pm and 8pm pst tipoffs.
