Is that why you added West Virginia when Aggie and Mizzou left?

And TCU which does an embarrassing 8 million in research compared to Mizzou at 240 million and Aggie around 700 or 800 million.

B12 academics have crashed and burned during realignment.

Do not act like Mizzou or A&M even compare to UT in academics

The only university that left the Big XII that could compare was CU and CU would have left the conference in the early 90's if it wasn't for UT coming into the Conference

When I was in school (Fall 1996-2000), A&M was more highly regarded than t.u. was...so much so that Texas Monthly was in a full blown panic.

You compared the merits of a state WITHOUT a current member to a state with 2 schools that are already current members.

Here's a hint: when measuring yourself against POTENTIAL members, focus on the word POTENTIAL instead of the word CURRENT.

Actually the Commache had a lot to do with it as well

One (long, boring) drive out to Colorado thru the Panhandles, I listened to an audio-book about the Commanche and the Parker lady who was abducted into their tribe. It was interesting.

The Commanche were formidable, but I think the lack of white folks to drive them out had a lot to do with the fact that the land they claimed wasn't really desirable pre-Petro boom.

Rock Hudson's character refers to the "dirt-eatin Commanches" in the movie Giant, which is a great film, until you realize it is ultimately just propaganda for miscegenation.

Until you realize that A&M never has and never will be considered a Public Ivy.

I understand the list is very subjective on what public universities they considered academic heavyweights and what universities they do not.

A&M attempts to force their students into conformity. Unlike UT a university that promotes diversity in all walks of life even regarding academics

Try 287, Eventually becomes 87 after Amarillo, all the way from Fort Worth. Traveled that road too many times to count and can tell you pretty much every restaurant in all the small towns between Ft. Worth and Amarillo.

A lot of it had to do more with cattle than petroleum as Amarillo became the cattle shipping point into Denver and westwards.
A lot of cities and towns in the Panhandle are built around feedlots. Explaining why Oprah went to Amarillo to face charges when she had her SJW on the mad cow kick in the mid 90's

No I addressed what a shite TV market is, regardless of your standing as a "founding member of the SEC". Doesn't mean you're not a shite TV market. Period.

Has A&M turned into that band geek from high school who as soon as he entered college pledged himself to a fraternity that forced him to humiliate himself to be part of the fraternity

Thing is Band geek, UT and OU do not need a fraternity or the SEC to be important

I guess, though, Aggy does

We will just sit back and allow yourself to humiliate yourself

Arizona being on that list completely invalidates its credibility. Colorado isn't much better.

In fact, aside from Washington and the UC system, there aren't any public schools in the mountain and pacific time zones worthy of consideration.

I know UofA has a great astronomy program
Maybe one of the best in the country

Besides that I am not sure why they are considered a great university.

Nice try to make a list invalid

I am sure if A&M attempted to become a real university they could one day make the list
