Culture and athletically it's a great fit. To the South Carolina fan, I promise you wouldn't feel that way after a visit to an actual game here in Norman.

I agree here, but if I was the voting delegate from my school I'd say thanks but no thanks. SEC doesn't need to go further west. Doesn't need to go further north into the midwest either. KY is enough. We need to go up the east coast. If we are going after a state that will require us to take 2 the we should go for VA first to VATech, and then UVA tag along. If not, then NC to get UNC, and NCST.

Few reasons for this. TV market into VA is way more benificial, so thats the normal reason. Other reason is to break the ACC in half. Big 12 is on it's last breath. ACC is vunerable with how stretched curtually they are. Why SEC, and Big 10 will end up on top.

On a personal vote reason...I cant stand OUs melody they play all game. Why I dont watch OU games on TV cause it's anoying as hell. This alone will get me to say no thanks. Also, OU fans can be a bit pompous too, so would be like adding UTX fans.

BTW - Norman on game day was nice. Nothing special though. Nice folks with the occsioanl twit wanting attention, and laughs from his buds. Nice though. Not happy we are doing another home and home with yall as I like going to new places, but is what it is.

The mid-majors need their own division. And a lot of schools just don't need to be playing football at any level.

Mid-majors (Sunbelt, I'm looking at you) would be better off merging with some of the larger FCS programs into a new league.

I think many schools view athletics as a marketing tool for enrollment. A 30-second halftime commercial on ESPNU is the most national exposure they get for their "brand" all year.

Oklahoma is as much a Western state as it is Southern. Probably moreso, on the balance.

The Native American thing is another aspect. People don't realize how strong that culture/heritage is in Oklahoma. They're an oil-producing state full of Indians and casinos.

I don't want Oklahoma. I thought their team and fans acted like trash when they were in Knoxville.

When Charlotte Sooner shows up we will all be reminded why no one wants OU in the SEC.

It's interesting to see so many counties in the East & Central, but so few in the West.

Only people who want the Big XII to die is the television networks so they do not have to pay 3rd tier rights on the open market

This is why UT makes more money than any university in the SEC because they can sell their 3rd tier rights. Especially ESPN hates this because if they did not agree to the LHN someone else would have

After the Trail of Tears it should be understandable that Native Americans didn't want to travel farther West. They didn't voluntarily choose Eastern or Central Oklahoma

Not true.
There is something called the dry line that exists pretty much east of Elk City Oklahoma
The line moves slightly east to west especially at night with humid air pushing west at night and dry air pushing east during the day

To make it short anything west of the dry line does not have the rainfall or soil to produce a wide variety of cash crops.
This plus the population centers of Oklahoma are in the Central and Eastern part of the state

5 national titles this year for OU, and a blue blood football program, top tier BBall program...such a terrible addition to the SEC! Everybody knows the real reason A&M doesn't want OU in the SEC lol it would be a recruiting nightmare for A&M and you would have another guaranteed L on the schedule every year.

can we trade Finebaum for Oklahoma. I would be okay with that. I don't want OK in the league but if we can get rid of Finebaum i'm all for it.

I do like to learn new stuff. Thanks.
I've seen this on the Big Island in Hawaii. The west side is a desert and the east side is a rain forest. And we went snow skiing in the middle

Western Oklahoma is desolate. The panhandle was abandoned by other states that could have claimed it for good reason. It's flatter than a pancake, dry, and one of the windiest places on earth.

Actually the Commache had a lot to do with it as well

It wasn't until the Commache were pretty much ran off when Western Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle was settled

I've been listening to Joe Rogan discuss the population explosion of North American coyotes on his podcast, and now this info. Good stuff today, I appreciate it

Research the history of Fort Sill, OK

The US Army created a huge army base in Oklahoma to deal with the Commache

Along with the Texas Rangers pretty much wiped the fight out of one of the most fearsome tribes on the Plains

It wasn't even until the early 20th century that they finally defeated the Commache when Quanah Parker was killed

I grew up just west of Wichita Falls, Tx and the war with the Commache is pretty much our forklore
