Explain to me why anyone would want Va. Tech over UVA

Anytime I see an expansion thread, people always say to add Va. Tech. Why is that? Va. Tech is no longer a power in football, they suck at men's/women's basketball and baseball. They're also not even the flagship university of the state of Virginia.
UVA on the other hand has more money, is average in football, VERY solid at basketball and has one of the best baseball programs in the nation. They are also far more marketable and add the DC market to the SEC. Oh and not to mention THOMAS frickING JEFFERSON established it.
So tell me, why would we add Va. Tech instead of UVA?

Come on...VT= rabid fans, great atmosphere at games, stadium is LOUD.

Tech has a bigger fanbase and a stronger grip on the D.C. Market

Can you edit the thread tile and replace Va Tech with VPI?
As you are a UVA fan, you should well know this is the correct way to do it.
As to your overall question, we aren't adding either because there are still gentlemen in the south and this would be most ungentlemanly of us.

Because we already have a public school that takes itself and it's high and mighty 'culture' way too seriously? 
In all seriousness, UVA is a great school but Tech is far more natural fit and UVA would never leave the psuedo-prestige it gets from associating with its fellow so-called 'Southern Ivies' in UNC and Duke.

I'd take them both before I would OU or Texas. Va Tech still has a Corps of Cadets and UVA was founded/designed by Thomas Jefferson.

UVA is the flagship, UVA is AAU. But UVA is very unfootball focused, and likes the ACC.
The reason everyone says VPI (there ya go Cheese) is the same reason the other choice is NC St- the Realignment IQ of this forum has gone up the last few years.
Everyone learned when the SEC got Texas A&M instead of Texas. Virginia, or North Carolina, run the show in the ACC. They have no angst, no reason to move.
Meanwhile VPI and NC St are more passionate about football than their big brothers, and they would like getting out of the shadow. The SEC can do that for them, while adding over ten million cable customers for the SEC Network.
