The other SEC players take pride in the fact they are given the opportunity to represent their schools on the football field.

This isn't the fact at Mizzou. If they showed this much unity on the field they wouldn't suck so terribly.

Yet he didnt. Only about 30 were actually boycotting. Supposedly white and black players were pissed they were canceling practice. He took the path of least resistance by going with the media. Unfortunately for him, he didnt account for how the everyday Mizzou fan would react.

He will regret this decision for the rest of his life. Book it.

Not an SEC school...but there are rumblings around here (SC) that there's some tension in Clemson due to the main "hall" being named Tillman Hall after Pitchfork Ben Tillman, one of the most prolific racists in SC history. Some whispers of the Mizzou incident causing some to want Tillman Hall renamed or a situation similar to what happened at Mizzou could be taking shape at Clemson.

This could get very interesting.

I bet $$ they'd have damn wrecking crew in there so fast to rip that sucker down it'd make your head spin. Especially with the taters sitting at #1 (makes me gag to even type that). We wouldn't mind if they boycotted the last game of the season, though. Save us some almost guaranteed embarrassment in this shite show of a season we've had.

This liberal nonsense has gone too far. I really hope State doesn't try some shite because of the state flag still being flown at the University.

Dylann Roof not withstanding?

"I chose Charleston because it is most historic city in my state, and at one time had the highest ratio of blacks to Whites in the country,"

Sept. 18, 2015 A former University of Mississippi student who admitted helping place a noose on a statue of a civil rights activist is going to prison.

U.S. District Judge Michael P. Mills sentenced Graeme Phillip Harris on Thursday to six months in prison beginning Jan. 4, followed by 12 months’ supervised release.

Harris pleaded guilty in June to a misdemeanor charge of using a threat of force to intimidate African-American students and employees, and prosecutors agreed to drop a felony charge.

I realize this is a football board but the ignorance is pretty astounding. You'd think you assholes would have some empathy for the folks who make up the majority of the teams you all live and die for.

Another thing they don't like at Mizzou is our statue of Thomas Jefferson. Because despite being a brilliant man and President of the country, as well as Mizzou being the first school in the Louisiana Purchase and a Jeffersonian school, he was a slave owner. And during the homecoming parade incident, one of the things they were shouting was that Mizzou was "built on their blacks" - referring to the University having been build in part by slaves. As I said - they'll take it too far and there will be a backlash.

My opinion of Mizzou as a team and an educational institution couldn't possibly be lower right now.

I agree...it has gone way, way too far. We took our Confederate flag down like everyone wanted..thankfully everything here in SC stayed peaceful even with all of the turmoil that occurred over the past year (namely Charleston). I'm actually very surprised that there hasn't been more attention given to the Tillman Hall issue up in tater town. A storm's a'brewin', though. I wish I could say I feel sorry for the orange clad fricktards up in Pickens county, but I just can't seem to muster any sympathy for them at all.

After the Charleston shooting, how many riots happened in Charleston? That was the point of the quote that you quoted

This is incredibly obvious. The school's political dirty laundry being aired on CNN is a disaster for the university's academic and athletic reputation.

Not a single one. None after the massacre at the church in Charleston, none after the white Charleston cop shot the unarmed black man and then framed him by placing his taser next to the black man's body, none during the whole Confederate flag controversy (we had a group come in from NC and one from Fl that tried to stir shite, but nobody from SC took the bait)..the black population of SC told both Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson (who is from SC) to stay away bc they weren't needed or wanted here, and during the floods we recently had...not one incident of looting. SC isn't as backasswards of a state as some may think.

Great post overall and especially the point, neglected itt, about Pinkel and his own survival. Wrong or right, if Pinkel doesnt promptly vocalize his support of his own players then he risks greatly reducing his effectiveness as a recruiter.

Just to get things clear, if you and multiple generations of your family had been enslaved for a few hundred years and essentially been abandoned by the Fathers of your county, who allowed you enslavement so that the country remained united, what exactly would you consider "going to far"?

Demanding a little respect and proactivity when it came to racial incidents on campus when you state has suffered numerous recent racial incidents is "going too far"?

Just how subservient would you counsel the rest of your clan to be?

Ok, so there there wasn't any rioting, do you want a medal or something. You still caved into all the minorities and SJWs demands. You insulted your forefathers and your state will never be the same without the Confederate flag. SC is as bad as any, but they went through it by appeasement.
