If there hadn't been audio, nobody would be talking about this. I've seen literally every SEC coach go off on a player, even Mild Mannered Miles.

Saban did this because AJ was too excited after scoring a touchdown.

Anyone remember what precipitated this Todd Grantham scolding?

ETA: It was in response to a personal foul.

Look I'm only going to say it this last time and then I'm done with this thread. I have no problem with what Mac did. I have a problem (if you can call it that) with how he did it.

In a previous post someone used the spanking a kid metaphor. I have no problem with spanking your kid. I do have a problem with spanking your kid in the moment, out of anger.

In that moment Mac appeared to be the kind of parent that would Adrian Peterson his kid because he forgot to wash the dishes again.

I don't think he's that guy.

No I don't remember, but didn't Granthan do the throat slashing himself?

BTW, not clicking. Can't add anything that hasn't been said before. I support coach Mac.

Because he yelled at a player for doing something he has specifically told him before to stop doing? So because he is demonstrative and has jowls, he's the equivalent of a guy who hits a three year old with a switch until he's bloody? Come on, now.

Disney didn't own ESPN at the time.

I don't watch ESPN anymore unless there's a game on it. I don't go to its website. I deleted the app off of all devices. It is a loud, obnoxious mouthpiece for many of the things that are wrong with our country.

Man, I actually miss the arse chewings in high school basketball... My teammates and I would get a kick out it... We would rank the explosions on a scale of 1-10 and give each other shite about it... Good times

Enough with faux outrage.

Too late. It's everywhere now. Mike and Mike on ESPN radio the other day was talking about how bad blacks are treating in the NFL and all the racism.

Blacks making millions playing football is racist. The conversation stemmed from Brady getting treated differently because he's white. They said, for example, Cam Newton wouldn't have been treated the same way.

Tired of all the crap. I watch Hard Knocks. Those coaches treat everyone the same. Like pieces of meat. Don't perform? See ya.

ESPN wants a return to the days of Percival Harvin choking Billy Gonzales. They favor the circle of trust of murderers and thieves rather than the discipline and class that coach Mac is trying to instill. It is disgusting

Screw that. That whole paragraph sounds like one of those "Muschamp is going to fix Florida and do things the right way" pieces people wrote in 2011. Frick that approach, McElwain better win none of the "process" crap matters or helps if winning doesn't follow, I'd trade the Muschamp "discipline" culture for the partying of the Spurrier years or Meyer's circle of trust in a heartbeat.

This is only acceptable because it was a discipline thing, if it had anything to do with on the field play it's bullshite, we've tried the "yell at players like a jackass" approach and frankly it doesn't work, it just makes the team play tight afraid to take any chances or worse they ignore it because whose going to pay attention to a clown that shouts all the time.

I don't know man, 21-0 was pretty fricking ridiculous. How could he quit on those kids and let them get humiliated like that is pathetic.

I mean I do think it was a little much. He came off like he wanted to fight him. But McElwain knows his players than any of us. He knows what certain players can take. I bet this approach wouldn't work on everyone.
