It absolutely means they were a better conference and the SEC's bowl record over that time frame proves it. The recruiting rankings prove it. The losses to other SEC teams on the way to National Titles proves it. The SEC is severely underrated because people like you are jealous.

bowl tie ins are weird so can't make too much of that.

there is a lot of SEC bias. the SEC teams that won it typically had no more than 1 loss in conference, if I'm not mistaken. If the conference is so competitive top to bottom, it wouldn't be possible to only have 1 loss.

I don't get that, those are their geographical rivals including state rivals, and Baylor and TCU generally more fun to watch than most SEC on offense. I pretty sure nobody at Texas cares about playing SC. SC is similar to playing a Texas Tech.

UTx and OU view TCU/Baylor/Tech as beneath them. Ditto for KSU/ISU/KU/WVU, for that matter. To them, if they beat Baylor or TCU, they get little joy, because they're supposed to beat them. If they LOSE to Baylor/TCU, it's pure anguish, letting an inferior program get one over. To be totally fair, they're not really wrong. No other B12 program has the history of either OU or UTx. But they're stuck in a conference with nine other teams, only really caring about one.

And I think you're greatly underestimating SC, or greatly overestimating Tech. Speaking as a fan of a team who has played both of them recently, SC wins, hands down. To give you an idea, SC seats about 20K more in their stadium than does Tech. I don't even want to get into the difference between road trips to Columbia, South Carolina vs. Lubbock, TX.

quote:

That has to do with their lack of success recently, more than anything. But their stadium is huge and they have more fans at games than 99 percent of programs

That's part of it, but you talk to the fans here, and they will tell you the same thing I am: the B12 conference schedule is shite. And to make things worse for the Sooners/Horns, the one marquee game they really care about is never a home game. It's always the neutral site RRR.

Cool opinion? They have recruited better than Clemson over the last 3 years so if they will never be a powerhouse, Clemson is 100% incapable of it.

I don't think that is true. I'll take Watson over your quarterback, Artavius Scott and Mike Williams over your WRs

You're the most naive poster I've seen on this board, and it is filled with Alabama fans.

Most fans don't go to the games, and most fans would prefer to play teams that are within 3-4 hours drive. And play geographical rivals.

I don't believe most Texas fans prefer to play a SC over a Texas Tech or TCU or Baylor

you talk a lot of trash for a program that has been terrible in recent years. I watched TN play SC last year and I did not see any evidence that TN has recruited better than Clemson, no speed on defense

The only options for the SEC are Va/Va Tech and NC State.

so an Aggie now speaks for Texas fans?

I would love to commission a poll of Texas fans and find out if they would prefer to play SC over Texas schools and OSU.

I would lose respect for Texas if they thought playing SC was a big deal. lol

No one wants to drive to Lubbock. For ANY reason. Unless your a fan of dust storms and chlamydia.

Sure they would. And even if you still don't believe me, are you also saying they would choose their "regional rivals" over Bama/Auburn/LSU?

Do Clemson fans think playing Baylor is a big deal? Playing Spurrier is more exciting than any Big 12 scrub.

They would only want to play those 3 if they are ranked. I don't see how replacing 3 programs that have been ranked a lot recently with 3 others that tend to be ranked, is a difference, other than the 3 new ones are further away and not rivals

but can't say SC is bama/auburn/lsu. lol

replacing Lubbock with Starkville is a big difference? Lubbock is probably bigger than Starkville and Auburn and Oxford, etc

I think Baylor has superior QB and WR play to SC, and most of SEC.

Def. more fun to watch. I'd have no problem swapping SC for Baylor

Dude, it takes at least six hours to drive from Austin to Lubbock.

Well they did get way more excited playing Ole Miss than they ever did playing Texas Tech.

Sometimes something new, but not necessarily better, is welcome.

When discussing the issue w/ a Clemson fan who wouldn't have any way of knowing, sure. Feel free to ask any of the UTx fans here, or on any other board, what their preference would be.

there won't be any 1 opinion, I think at least 65 percent would prefer to play texas and okla schools than SEC schools
