I think you're probably right there but it would be a bitter pill to swallow and make for an extra excruciatingly long offseason. Please be better, please be better...

State has been predicted every single year to finish last in the west for seriously 7 years. It has yet to happen. If it ever happens all you frickers will be like "I told you so" but forget you were 1-8 in your prediction. Last time Arkansas beat us Obama had barely warmed up his chair

Nah. They went 8-5 last year, losing at least 2 OOC games they should have won. If they win those, they go 10-3.
Arkansas is a team that will progress as the season goes along, they just have to avoid the early letdowns. They should be 5-0 before that Alabama game. I really think 9 wins is probable for them, so long as their QB is decent.

Agreed Manziel is a drug addicted weasel whilst the other two seem like pretty super solid dudes.

I don't know if they will finish last. I have a hard time seeing anybody but A&M finishing last

Geez this thread is sad.. A bunch of fans of teams that haven't won the SEC in their existence arguing about who's finishing last this year.

I'm not putting him in the top 5, 10, or even 20. But it's safe to say he's in the top 5-10% of all SEC QB's who have ever started at least 12 games. Therefore, not outrageous to say he's one of the "best SEC QB's ever."
Compare him to these top pocket passing QB's over the last decade. Bolded stats indicate best of the bunch and underlined stats indicate worst of the bunch:
quote:
Aaron Murray (JR) - 3,893 passing yards, 64.5 cmp%, 36 TD, 10 INT
Zach Mettenberger (SR) - 3,082 passing yards, 64.9 cmp%, 22 TD, 8 INT
Rex Grossman (SOPH) - 3,896 passing yards, 65.6 cmp%, 34 TD, 12 INT
AJ McCarron (SR) - 3,063 passing yards, 67.3 cmp%. 28 TD, 7 INT
JaMarcus Russell (JR) - 3,129 passing yards, 67.8 cmp%, 28 TD, 8 INT
Brandon Allen (SR ) - 3,125 passing yards, 65.1 cmp%, 29 TD, 7 INT
Ryan Mallett (SR) - 3,869 passing yards, 64.7 cmp%, 32 TD, 12 INT
Matt Stafford (JR) - 3,459 passing yards, 61.4 cmp%, 25 TD, 10 INT
Eli Manning (SR ) - 3,600 passing yards, 62.4 cmp%, 29 TD, 10 INT
Tyler Bray (JR) - 3,612 passing yards, 59.4 cmp%, 34 TD, 12 INT
Andre Woodson (SR) - 3,709 passing yards, 63.1 cmp%, 40 TD, 11 INT

maybe 3 of those guys could be in the discussion as being among the greatest in SEC history. (Murray, Manning, Stafford)

Yes, it's outrageous. He was a very solid QB and arguably one of the best in the league last season.

Brandon Allen had one great season. Doesn't even come close to being the best ever though.
Too quickly you forget how bad he was the first 2 years.

They lost their very best players. I don't see how they can do better than 8-4. That's the ceiling. But it's not all on Bret, it's a rebuilding year. They should definitely keep him around for 17, they should be solid again then.

Arguably one of the best in the league? Nothing to argue when he has the top QBR in the entire nation.

someone has to. But I'd say MSU first but who knows, it's the SEC

A lot of people believe Tebow is the best SEC QB ever (he probably is), but he didn't have much of an NFL career. What does that have to do with his SEC career?
