Vols fans seem to think ESPN hates Tennessee for some reason. However, it seems to me like ESPN has much higher expectations for the Tennessee football program than many of the members of Volnation.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO. Please just use the UGA logic and keep him because he's a good guy and he'll eventually turn it around.
Richt has twice as many SEC titles as Derek Dooley has winning seasons.

If Tennessee is sitting at 4-4 after losing to Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and South Carolina, I really do hope Hart just fires him then. It will be much easier to get the idiots in the fan base on board with firing a 4-4 coach than it would be if Tennessee won the next 4 games.

Most vol fans on volnation can't comprehend.
Maisel makes valid points and it is not a knock on Dooley or his coaching. Its a knock on the impatience of Tennessee faithful and how the 4 seasons of mediocrity have put them on the edge.

Please. He's not going to come out and say Dooley sucks. He's clearly not confident in Dooley's ability to get it done.

He clearly says in the article Dooley is a good, ethical coach. If he thought Dooley was as bad as many on here think, he would have used the many examples of Dooley as the reason instead of the impatient fanbase.

If he thought Dooley had what it takes to ever win in this conference, he probably wouldn't be predicting that he's fired midway through the season.

You can't fire him for just losing those games...

Yea he would. He clearly uses the new A.D and the impatience of the fanbase as the reasoning for the fire. He did not once mention Dooley's coaching ability in the article. In fact, he says I hope I'm wrong because Dooley is a good, ethical coach. He believes the fanbase or management won't give Dooley time and ultimately oust him.

You can't fire him for losing to everyone that doesn't suck?

First, he wouldn't throw out ethical as a qualifier if he could argue that Dooley is competent with a straight face. Second, if he's predicting he's fired during the season, he's probably predicting 5 or more losses. Yeah, he really thinks Dooley's a winner.

Tennessee should fire Dooley if yall lose to UF AGAIN. Seriously, if Tennessee can't beat UF this year (a week after @ A&M, breaking in new soph QB, new offensive coordinator, coming off 7-6 season, game in Knoxville) then idk when the frick yall will

Why would he use the fanbase as the reasoning instead of Dooley's "incompetence." You are trying to word the article around in your favor and its not like that. He makes it obvious and clear that history shows when a program gets a new a.d and a traditional powerhouse is mediocre for good bit, they go in a new direction.
No he is not. Feldman has wrote in his articles numerous times that if Dooley doesn't win 8 games he is gone. If UT has 4 losses and somehow loses to Mizzou or Miss State, he could be fired.

When we have a coach that isn't a joke.

We're talking about a prediction by Maisel.
