exactly, some of them get so mad about it. like it takes away from their '03 title
I think it's funny because they haven't had any other banners to put up since the 60s so they had to reach to find something recent. Honestly, if I were an OM fan that banner would be a constant reminder of how exactly they missed out on the title game (losing to LSU and Eli falling down on 4th to seal the game)

So you have absolutely no problems with Ole Miss and their claims of 2003 West Division Champion?
You are the one with the issues of facts and reality here, not I

co-conference titles were legit pre-conference championship game era.
Now, if you're in a conference without a CCG, I think co-champions shouldn't be counted based on the H2H factor. Oklahoma in 2012 shared with Kansas State with an (8-1) record. KSU received the Big XII BCS bid so to me I don't like the shared claim.
And not being a conference champion or co-champion will not deter you from contending for a national championship such as,
1936 Minnesota - 2nd in B10, won NC
2001 Nebraska - 2nd in B12n
2003 Oklahoma - lost CCG
2011 Alabama - 2nd in SECw, won NC
2016 Ohio State - 2nd in B10w
2001 Nebraska and 2016 Ohio State are recognized as co-division champions, and I think it's fine co-division titles are recognized, especially if you're in a position to contend/qualify for a playoff/championship.
2003 Ole Miss and their banner is more of an embarrassment than anything.

So LSU does not claim to be west champions just like Ole Miss?
Good god guys, might want to get your shite straight before commenting.

You seem to not grasp the fact that people laugh at Ole Miss for hanging a banner for everyone to see

anyone outside of LSU, pretty much. no one really cares who wins the west

Yes, they claim west championships when they werent the rep in ATL, just like Ole Miss in '03

we claim them the same, we just honor them differently

We claim them in the trophy case and publications.
They claim them in the trophy case, publications, and the stadium.
Therefore, we do not claim them like Ole Miss

Do you live in an alternate reality where LSU doesnt claim '96, '97, and '02?
So you are saying this statement did not come from LSU
quote:
8 SEC WESTERN DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIPS 2011 • 2007 • 2005 2003 • 2002 • 2001 1997 • 1996

LSU finished 13-1 which means they lost only one conference game. They beat Ole Miss head-to-head that year (2003) yet Ole Miss claims the Sec West Title lmao.
But this is typical for Ole Miss.

I disagree. Claiming something is either a you do or don't thing. You don't claim something more or less than someone else. Ole Miss chooses to honor their co-western division championship on their football stadium. We don't
