The logic of both was that if no Masoli then HDN was very likely going to be in hot water as your coach. I guess I'm asking if that were true then if OM stinks it up the rest of the way did getting Masoli make life even tougher for Nutt.

It'll be tough no matter the situation if he goes 5-7 or worse. Getting Masoli just gives us the best possible chance at not having that bad of a season.

If anything made his life tougher in recent events, it was him blowing the JSU game. At least he did take full responsibility in front of the team this week. That will certainly help keep the team together and give them a better chance to rebound this season.

losing the jack state was much worse to you guys than getting blown out by MSU right?

Rivalry game sure but at least they were a SEC team (sorta)

Anyway, I figure Nutt will pull the team together a bit and survive the season with 5-7 wins... although there will be some people around Ole Miss who never forget this loss

Can be argued that their close to the same. We are competing over some high profile recruits with them and a win over the other one is huge in the eyes of a recruit. Most recruits look at the JSU game as an "oh well, shite happens" type game. Now if we lose to another team like Tulane or ULM, then it would definitely be a HUGE set back with recruiting.

Commit Cody Prewitt said on his facebook the other day something along the lines of...."So Ole Miss had a bad game, So what?"

So if Nutt runs the table in the West this year(I realize how unlikely that is), are you still going to resent Nutt for losing to JSU?

Absolutely. And I'm not trying to be hyperbolic either. I'm sure you're just as obsessed as I am about it. But after Saturday something changed. It's like I got cheated on. Especially after the State game last year. You may say I take football way to seriously and you wouldn't be wrong but no I'll never be as excited for om football again I just won't.

It doesn't seem like it now, but time heals all wounds.

Wouldn't that raise the resentment since it would prove that a game such as JSU should never happen?

not really

People were absolutely livid over LSU losing to UAB under Saban

It was water under the bridge when he starting winning the SEC

Yes. Good coaches at SEC programs just don't lose to 1-AA teams. He is in a very small club now that includes Sylvester Croom. I thought he did a piss-poor job last year as well. McCluster being amazing saved what was still the most disappointing season I've ever witnessed. It took 5 or 6 games before he even considered Dexter in the backfield. Even though McCluster kept them in that USCe game in the fourth quarter last year until the clusterfrick that was their last 4 offensive plays of that game. Every single thing Arky fans have warned Ole Miss about has come true. I just don't think they'll ever do any better than 8 or 9 wins and that's only when they have double-digit numbers of NFL players on the roster.

Nutt will beat a top sec contender once this season.

The UA-B loss was during year one for Saban, had he lost to them in year three after consecutive 9 win seasons coming directly off of the DiNardo tenure, you opinion may be a little different towards that loss?

See here's the difference I know that I'm never going to see om compete for the sec and Ive been going to om games longer than I can remember. But I've always supported them. We are never running the table. If we do call me a cynical a-hole and berate and make fun of me all you want I'll eat crow medium well.

Possibly, the last two seasons for Nutt after replacing a senior laden team lead to 6-6 beating no one of importance and 5-6 again beating no one of importance.

people were pretty skeptical about saban

it's not like he rolled into baton rouge with a lot of credentials to his credit

losing to UAB (a game LSU should just not have lost) was a sign to the more negative that he lacked the chops to get the job done

Which is another reason why judging coaches based on a single game is silliness only rabid fans should be guilty of

If anyone is gonna take you guys into tuscaloosa and beat saban it will be nutt. I figure Bama won't even care about playing yall that weekend. You then come in and beat em. I don't absolutely hate nutt and he is always good for one huge victory a year. This would be the game he has to win to try and make up for dropping the game to J st.
