also, we basically threw away 1 last chance when a freshman on special team lined up offsides on the A&M punt the following series. After the turnover we pinned them deep. We would have had the ball at least on the 50, probably closer, with about a minute to play. We were able to drive 70+ yards on lsu to win the game in less time. I like how people are now starting with the revisionist history about the a&m game.

Nah. JFF would have just bitch slapped the bama D back down the field and it wouldn't have mattered.

It all worked out well for Bama. Possibly giving them the focus and desire they needed to win another national title.

The real question is does LSU stand a chance against A&M if they play them later in the year.
Um, you guys played LSU for your 8th game of the season moron. There was only 3 weeks in between your LSU and Bama game.
BTW, LSU beat you guys at HOME

No, we owe LSU the win. In fact, we should take the loss from LSU and give them our win. The swamp people were that instrumental.

The loss was meaningless in the grand scheme. Who cares.

From Bama's perspective, yes. But from ours, the game's significance can't be overstated. It validated this team, silenced critics (particularly those in state) and captured the attention of very important recruits who we've since landed.

Bama called 3 passes and 1 run. 2nd and goal at the 6 was a run to the left side out of the I formation where Lacy was stopped for a 1 yard gain.

Saban knew the run wasn't getting y'all anywhere cuz Barrett Jones was having his lunch eaten by Spencer Nealy all day long.

But to demonstrate the absurdity of the OP's question, does A&M lose any game this year if it's not forced to play 12 straight weeks?

The Florida game was our first of the season, first as members of the SEC, first with a new coaching staff, and first with what would become a Heisman-winning QB who progressed dramatically from that first game.

It wasn't supposed to be our first game. But despite the series of firsts, we lost by 3 in a game that could have gone either way.

The LSU game occurred during what was supposed to be our bye week. We were supposed to play them a week later -- completely fresh.

LSU's 2012 record will now be amended to reflect this reality:

10-2-0-1

10 wins, two losses, no ties, and a moral victory for 'helping' A&M defeat Bama. As another title thread states, "LSU fans have elevated Alabama into the Stratosphere."

I think Kevin Sumlin and Johnny should have thanked Les Miles for helping with their magical season. All hope was lost after the rout in College Station only to be helped by that same team later down the line.

They should thank Hugh Freeze for going full ruhtard as well. Can't blame him though, he's a girl's basketball coach.

ETA: and the weather. LA Tech beats them if that game is played when it was scheduled.

ETA 2: and Bobby Petrino for getting some strange. Season was a perfect storm for Aggy, they'll be back to being the same ole Aggy soon enough.

3 point game AFTER JFF got his Mojo.

Or did JFF have his Mojo from the beginning and UF's defense was too much in the second half. Therefore y'all would have beat La Tech.

Y'all can not have it both ways

EDt: 2point game.

No, friend. We would have hung 100 in the first game. Their defense would have nothing with which to prepare. They might well have put up a lot of numbers -- though I doubt that WR's career day can be duplicated (after all, he did far less against far inferior defenses). But it wouldn't matter. Recall we were up 27-0. Good defense or bad, nobody blows 27-0 leads twice in one season.

UF would have then had film on JFF. No first half success for JFF then.

The defenses of UF and La. Tech represent two different spectrums. JFF didn't need any mojo to beat La. Tech -- he just needed a pulse.

Playing La. Tech when scheduled would have simply allowed the team to experience a game before playing UF. Given how close the game was, perhaps that added experience would have been sufficient to turn the result in A&M's favor. But perhaps not.

The point is it doesn't matter because it happened how it happened. Just as it doesn't matter when A&M played Bama -- maybe we were helped, maybe we weren't. Either way, that's how he chips fell this season.
