Only about the first 50,000 can see the game worth a damn anyway. But it's all about the dollars, who gives a shite if the players look like ants on a hot skillet.

I've sat in most of the sections of BDS over the years. And I often like sitting higher up to have a better view. The lower bowl doesn't always have the best view.

On another note, whoever had the idea that unfilled upper deck seats will soon be turned into party decks, is really onto something.

So, lots of drunk people on flat levels at high spaces. Yeah, no chance things or people go over the side on that one. Even if the AD's went for such an idea, no schools insurance carrier probably will.

Bad thing. 100,000 seat stadiums are a gimmick used by poverty programs who go 50 years without winning a national championship. I'm looking at you, Michigan and Tennessee.

Are you sure? Seems like the hottest view (off the field) is more concentrated in the lower bowl.

Agreed. I sit on row 4 of the West upper deck at BDS and I have a great view from there. I'd rather sit where I am than anywhere in the lower bowl.

Better seating (as in the actual seat that you sit in) could change a lot too. It's just pretty much bleachers right now.

I used to scalp tickets to Auburn vs Florida/Georgia/Bama/LSU for $200.00 for just one ticket right outside of the stadium, just to see the game.

I can just buy a nice T.V. for that money now...and still have a nice T.V. in the off-season.

I'm leaning towards bad thing, for several reasons.
LSU- when it was 80,000, parking was pretty tough, and traffic was bad.

Now, you add an additional 20,000 people, remove parking options, and traffic is a nightmare.
Combine that with probably 8+ games on tv. Watching on a 50 inch screen, can go to the bathroom and miss 2-3 plays, while at the stadium you might miss 2-3 series. Able to drink/smoke/eat at your leisure, instead of binging and smuggling.

80,000 looks just as impressive on the screen, more so when it's packed instead of "only" 95,000 with about 8,000 empty seats. The real money comes from TV anyway, so don't bring up the gate revenue.

TV money is part of it, but when you expand to add premium seating...which is paid for before the season even begins...then you're talking about icing on the cake.

Add in concessions (There are 60 permanent concession stands in Tiger Stadium along with 40 satellites.)

lease seats...

team merchandise...

...all of which benefit from more people in the stands, and your school's stadium becomes a license to print money.

So, the Owls have never played a game there yet, right?

It's a soccer stadium, you dolt!

It was built for soccer before they had a football team, so naturally it will now be the football field since they start playing football this year. So what if it was converted from soccer, how does that prevent it from being a good field?

It will be an 8-9k seat football stadium, but still nicer than the HS stadiums of the same size.

The new Braves park is only going to be around 40k, so yea, "bigger is better"... no, not really.

I personally always enjoy the home viewing experience better, but if I do go to a game I don't really want to be cooped up with 100 thousand, fat, sweating chickens..

I have to say I would prefer a decent size stadium (65-85K) sold out continuously with great amenities. I think that is the future. The venues have to compete with great HD TV now. If Im at the stadium, I want to feel like Im in the middle of it AND I don't want to have a 12" wide seat to park my butt in (looking at you UTe).
For example:
I believe the UT-VaTech game at Bristol will be huge, but I don't believe fans would return to that type of venue 8 times during the year.
Give me a great experience in the stadium where I feel I am a part of the happening
