Do you think that expanding stadiums beyond 100,000 is a good or bad thing...

for either the teams that have already done so, or even including the teams that have it as a "goal" or "plan" in the future?

Why would it be bad?

If there's a demand for it, why wouldn't it be a good thing?

Bad. It's why Ole Miss refuses to go beyond 65,000.

If it's a thing, it's just a thing; neither good nor bad.

There may not always be the same demand for it, especially with TV coverage today, and empty sections of seats look bad on TV.

really won`t know that answer for 15 to 20 years from now, i could see a downturn in attendance in the future with the superior coverage and home entertainment options. Though Auburn sold out last year even without Bama or Georgia and the additional "Eagles nest' tickets and have sold out this year, i believe we could fill it if they expanded the student section. Long term i would prefer upgrades and more premium seating.

What are you going to do when the "hard times" come, though? When everything is black and meek...and the band-wagonners are, literally, nowhere to be seen.

Quality over quantity.

It doesn't matter what your capacity is. When bad times hit the stadium will look empty. Right Aggy?

Like mass exits from the stadium at half time while trailing Troy?

The only reason it would be bad would be because how obvious empty sections are for non-big games (which would be the majority of home games). I mean, I guess they lose money for printing out tickets that go unsold right? Other than that it shouldn't matter.

It's only bad if you don't have the demand.

Meh we will take a sold out season next year. That is a lot of money.

It's a bad thing for most programs.

I want Carolina to stay roughly where we are now, but add another twenty or so luxury boxes and continue to improve amenities.

The problem is the new profit model for the SEC and other major conferences.

Empty seats are no longer considered a loss. Many empty seats are paid-for in advance regardless of whether or not someone is actually sitting in them at game time. Capacity stadiums each and every week are no longer of paramount importance ... just as long as the seat is sold. It's the time share model.

We top-out at 86k in Billy Brice. That's plenty. Add another 20 suites and then find another 4k general admission or something and that should last us another five decades or so.

Big stadiums are overrated IMHO. It's all about the atmosphere ... size really doesn't matter when it comes to stadiums IMHO.

It just seems like a "We Want Big" fad or something. Remember when women in the 90's used to have unusually large hair with lots of hairspray. But then it rained...and those same women just looked like chemo patients?

In the mean time...the rest of the high-quality ladies knew the difference and consequences in persuing those ways.

Jordan Hare seats 87,000. That's so little league.
