Had Bama approached that drive like they had the rest of the 4th quarter, your thread wouldn't exist. It's that simple. OM was gassed on defense. We could have run the clock and scored and it would have been an epic win

I'm inclined to agree with you.

Though Ole Miss might have pulled off the miracle at the end.

Had Bama won, everyone would have been left scratching their heads as to how Bama could have 4 turnovers and still pull off the win.

But at any rate, I'd still say those 2 deep balls were unnecessary risks. Of course, if they succeeded no one would care and Kiffin would be a genius.

In the fourth quarter, he was VERY effective, IIRC

Yeah, the two drives prior to the last INT Bama was moving the ball pretty well. Until for some inexplicable reason Kiffin decided to go deep with 2:54 left.

I think Bama's offense will only get better as the season goes on. In most games, the play calling won't be an issue. In this game, the margin for error was greatly reduced because of the special teams mistakes.

Having Amari on the field would have made things much more interesting. As a Beaver fan, I am miffed that y'all stole Mullaney. The rich getting richer.

I doubt he'll have to fire Kiffin.

Yeah man, I agree with you on that last pass for sure. When we were doing so many things well offensively, why try to do the one thing that we haven't done well once all year? Made no sense to me.

Henry was largely useless aside from 2-3 runs in the 4th quarter.

Kiffin lost the game before it ever started. He lost this game 3 weeks ago when Kiffin and Saban dicked around and didn't name a starting QB.

They insured the lose even more when they started Bateman.

They've been splitting time, when the #1 should have gotten the bulk of the prep time in getting ready for the game.

They've been making multiple game plans for games, rather than just the main game plan and spending a small amount on the backup(They didn't even have Coker starting this week, so how much did they spend on his gameplan?)

The receivers aren't getting as much rep time as they should with the QB, again due to mixed prep time.

There are limited reps, there is limited time and there is limited practices. Not naming the guy and putting the majority of the effort into him has consequences.

And I'm not even going to get into the play calling other than to say - anyone who calls some kind of WR sweep on 2nd and goal which features someone running the entire length of the field east/west isn't going to get many cheers from me. That should have been a TD to take the lead 7-3 and instead Alabama settles for a FG on the 4th and goal from the 1 after that loss.

Some of the dumbest crap I've ever seen in football has happened this year, and it all revolves around Kiffin.

The turnovers and such obviously hurt, and the offense moved the ball and put up some points. But the game was still winnable and would have been won if not for all this jack off crap we've had to put up with this year.

Ultimately it falls on Saban. He makes $7 mil a year for a reason and he should know better than to allow this.

Bama will be fine.

I'm much more worried about LSU's ability to throw the ball when we need to.

In the Les Miles era, I think I can count on one hand the number of times I've said "Damn, I wish we would have run the ball a little more or used more short passes today."

I've never been an offensive coordinator, but I can point to three instances where Kiffin got greedy or impatient at a crucial time in the ballgame and called for a long pass that was intercepted. i.e. last year's Ole Miss game, the Ohio State game (right after we had gotten the ball in their end of the field and had recaptured some of the momentum) and this past week's game. Maybe it had worked in other games, those are somehow easier to forget.

Had I been calling the plays with nearly 3 minutes to go in the game and Bama's offense rolling like it was, I'd had gotten the ball to Henry in space and let him punish that gassed Ole Miss defense.

Thanks. As a non-Bama fan, I don't take as much notice of these things but figured some of you probably do.

I'm usually too consumed cursing a blue streak over the things that drive me batshit insane about Les Miles. But since Fournette exploded all over Auburn, I had more time on my hands to empathize with the plight of others.

I think Bama's odds of winning that Ole Miss game, increase 10 fold if Bama's runs the rock that last drive. This refusal to stay committed to the run seems to be the norm for Bama after 2012 though. Especially when Bama has got a defense on the ropes & tired. When Bama has this happening now, they'll let them off the hook and pass it 2 or 3 straight times. Old Bama would pound the rock and say, "Have some more!" Bama's identity of a hard-nosed running team is all but gone, that simple.

Saban needs a investigation. He needs to make sure no offensive coordinators are laying down bets on the over/under with Bama passing plays....lol

Kiffin gets too cute with his play calling in crucial times. Bama is a team that doesn't need gimmick plays to win. They've got the talent to play big boy football rather than the aggressively cute plays Kiffin loves to call.

I've never seen someone as effective as he is at stumbling forward into positions he is under-qualified for.

Nothing would surprise me in regards to Lane Kiffin anymore.

It was, imho, a team loss.

Poor blocking, poor special teams, poor coaching decisions, poor running at times, poor catching at times. Having said that, Ole Miss won the game and did what they needed to do to win.

My takeaway, is that of all the things that helped lose the game, are fixable issues. And to have had a chance to make a game tying drive in the final minutes gives me hope that the talent level along with less mistakes, could show this as being a very good team.

In watching the Bama offense the last year and 3 games, it seems like Kiffen never lets the running game get into a groove. They have success running, then he goes away from it.

Would it have made a difference? Probably not. 5 TOs are hard to overcome.

Indeed.

Though if y'all could throw five turnovers our way in November, that would be fantastic.

I hope we're done on that front for awhile.

I think there are going to be 2 or 3 really exciting games on the plate that will be barn burners. Georgia's balance on offense has me concerned a little, but I think our offense will do better against them than it did Ole Miss.

I think we match up to Lsu's strength with our strength, with our front 7 and yalls running game. That one may be decided by mistakes and QB play. And yes, I'm purposely omitting FG play. I don't want to think about that.
