Did Lane Kiffin blow the game for Bama?

Two plays really stood out to me - and both of them surely were decisions by Kiffin.
1) Game tied 3-3 about 10 minutes left in the 2nd quarter. Ole Miss had just gone 3 and out. On 2nd and 8, Kiffin has Bateman throw the deep ball. It's picked off and returned to the Bama 26. 6 plays later, Ole Miss scores their first TD and scores another TD after Bama fumbles the ensuing kickoff. Prior to that interception, Bama and Ole Miss were battling it out pretty good. That INT completely changed the game.
2) Down 43-37 with 2:54 on the clock, Bama has the ball 1st and 10 at their own 33. On the play before, Coker reeled off a 20+ yard run. Then Kiffin has Coker throw a deep ball and Ole Miss intercepts on their own 32. There was more than enough time on the clock to mount a drive (Bama had scored 2 TDs on the previous 2 possessions). Instead, Kiffin went deep and it backfired again.
I didn't think Coker played badly at all. If anything, he kept several drives going with his surprising mobility. Instead, I question some of the play calls. It's like Kiffin thinks he's back in the Pac 10.
For sure, Bama made plenty of other mistakes. The special teams mistakes were huge. Ole Miss certainly played very well. Swag, Nkemdiche and Treadwell are all phenomenal.
But after watching the game again today, I think I get why Finebaum is convinced that Kiffin won't be back next year.
How many Bama fans think Kiffin will be back next year?
Not trolling, honestly curious. It was a helluva game to watch. Very entertaining.

Kiffin can't take credit if he doesn't call a pass play and celebrate before it happens. If the choice is Henry gets the credit or Lane might be able to take credit, what do you think Al Davis' biggest mistake is going to do?

Did Lane kiffin fumble the ball 3 times? Did Lane Kiffin throw 2 picks? Did Lane kiffin miss wide open receivers by 10 feet or more?
Bamas boys played like butt mud....and Ole Miss stomped them out in the process.

If we're being honest, he totally did.

What's pissing me off is that people are acting like Henry was averaging 10 yards a touch like he was against OU and OSU. I remember him being moderately effective in the game

Sometimes when you do something that wasn't expected, like throwing it deep when people like you thinks it'll be a run, it will come off as brilliant, if it works.
In other words, no , I don't think Kiffin blew the game.
I have said since last year, I only gave lane 2 years at Bama, good or bad.
He'll be a head coach somewhere next year.

In the fourth quarter, he was VERY effective, IIRC.

No...Kiffin didn't let Ole Miss score over 40 nor did he throw a pick or fumble. When your offense scores that much vs a good defense, you did a good job calling the game.

Yea but at that point so was the passing game

That's the thing, he has improved the offensive production but he doesn't want to keep running the ball when it's working.

No.
But he does draw up the plays and coach the QBs on how to execute them.
Mainly I was questioning those two plays in particular that seemed rather Pac-10ish in their overeagerness to get rich quick rather than stretch out the drive and use more time on the clock and wear down Ole Miss.
I'm not saying Lane Kiffin should become Les Miles. They both are who they are.
Coker is more than serviceable. He will develop into a better QB. Bama's offense was starting to wear down Ole Miss in the 2nd half. I could easily see Coker leading Bama back to Atlanta if they beat Georgia on October 6.
I think Coker can do enough to beat LSU.

You're right. He only averaged a pitiful 7.3 vs Ohio State and a not too impressive 12.5 vs OU.
Between the two games he had a mere 320 yards rushing and receiving w/3 TDs on 24 touches.
Why feed that guy the ball more when he wasn't doing shite?

I think I worded that weird. Basically I was more mad when we didn't use Henry in those sugar bowls than this past week

you are literately pulling stats out of your arse.
you realize this shite is easy to look up right?
vs OU 8 carries 100 yards and 1 reception for 61. LINK
vs Ohio State 95 yards on 13 rushes and 52 on 2 receptions. LINK
the dude was beasting so you can just stop now.

quote:Had Bama approached that drive like they had the rest of the 4th quarter, your thread wouldn't exist. It's that simple. OM was gassed on defense. We could have run the clock and scored and it would have been an epic win. Barring any other dumb mistakes. Which might be wishful thinking, too.

That being said, If the center makes his block, the bomb could have been a TD or at the very least, not an interception. Oh well..

ignoring the obvious troll, no its not lane kiffin. He didnt turn the ball over 5 times. Bateman's pic was because of a bad route, either a badly ran route or he hurt himself on the play, ive seen people say both. The last pic of the game sits squarely on Ryan Kelly's shoulders. He had the worst game I have ever seen out of a 3 year lineman. That play especially he looked lost and he barely even pushed Nkemdiche when he whiffed by him to pressure the bad throw, and the fumbles on the kickoff werent even his unit.
Bama isnt that good this year. Simple as that. We have some phenomenal areas on the team. Our RB's are awesome, our front 7 is awesome and our receivers, when the ball gets to them, are pretty damn good too. The offensive line is pitiful, the secondary is pitiful, and the quarterback situation makes me want to take a shite in whoevers mouth is responsible for that cluster frick. Saban or whoever. Those are the facts.
But as you said, that was me ignoring the obvious troll.

Saban's D gave up 43 points. But he'll fire Kiffin before Smart.

Bama struggled to run in the first half on first down. That's why it was passing a lot.
