Of course. That is a given. I was talking about winning the whole thing. So, we were talking about two different things. Thanks for the clarification.

Could you imagine a 13-0 defending champ Alabama team being dropped down to #4?
Could you believe an LSU team getting beat 4 straight years by Alabama and not playing for a title at all.

Yep. I thought that we had shifted to winning the championship. I see what you are saying now. Thanks.

Of course. It happened. What are you deflecting from? And, I don't think that you understood his question.
Look, this thread is not a criticism of Alabama. Bama went 12-1 and won the SEC. They did what they had to do and earned their way in. It is an analysis of where the SEC actually was, and since we don't have spots for all of the conference champs, this type of thing will be talked about.
Bama fans do not have to be sensitive.

Lol I love how people put so much emphasis on this...
Jones is freakin good man I don't care what "string" he is.
He was one of the top 20 qb's in the nation when he was recruited.
I love it how people think we lost to a walk on.

Who did they actually beat that was worth anything?
when you really dive into everyone's schedule, no one was any indisputably top notch wins. The best win prior to the bowl's of anyone in the top 6 was Baylor's win over TCU. TCU does appear to be a top 5 team inarguably, after having watched the Ole Miss game, but Ole Miss was a shadow of the team it was in October when it knocked off Alabama.
The only reasoning I can think of regarding Ohio St's loss to Virginia Tech, which is just impossibly bad, to what they appear to be now, is that the team simply improved far more than other teams did. But maybe playing a really soft Big10 helped them by allowing them to avoid injuries, I don't know, I don't want to pour over everyone's rosters looking for who suffered more from injury.
Before the Bowls, i felt the teams should have been ranked like this:
1. Oregon
2. Alabama
3. Florida St
4. Baylor
5. TCU
6. Ohio St
7. Michigan St
8. Mississippi St
9. Ole Miss
10. Arizona
after having watched them, I think they should be ranked like this:
1. Oregon
2. TCU
3. Ohio St
4. Alabama
5. Michigan St
6. Baylor
7. Florida St
8. Georgia Tech
9. Ole Miss
10. Mississippi St
The only real take away I have from this is how badly I wish nonconference schedules were exclusively power 5 (and major independents) There just aren't enough data points to feel certain of rankings now. The game has matured so much, there are many great teams, dozens of good teams, and no world beaters.
