Spurrier is definitely a name.
Not like Saban. No college coach alive is.
I'd say Meyer is close-- he's won 10 games every single place he's been, taken all but Bowling Green to a BCS bowl, etc. Give Meyer the same amount of time as Saban and he'll have as many if not more titles-- remember Nick Saban coached decently at Michigan State for like 5 years, Meyer took 2 to turn Bowling Green into a 10 win school, then turned Utah from a Moutain West program into a Fiesta Bowl winner that eventually joined a BCS conference, then won 2 national titles at Florida, then flipped a 6-7 Ohio State into winning 24 straight.

Saban has nothing to do with it. Alabama's bagmen win them championships.

you are not giving Saban enough credit. He creates a culture of winning

I think he could do it at SCAR,
I do too.
If he took over the SCAR that HBC built.

Yes. But not at the same level that he has at Bama. Great coach that happens to be at the perfect place for his style of coaching.

It took him three years to win one at Bama. It'd probably take a least 6 to get it done at Kentucky, but he could do it

Except that he left the cupboard bare in Gainesville.

And not a single jimmy rustled.

He could win everywhere except ole miss and Aggy.
Never those 2. Ever.

Extremely disappointing. Guess it's hard to get to someone when they know they have the GOAT as their coach.

No. He's the type that maximizes potential, but doesn't build that potential from the ground up...
I doubt he'd have had the success Spurrier has had, for example, in transforming Florida and South Carolina from meh to what they are now.

Could he do it at Mississippi State? Kentucky? Vandy? Ole Miss?
He might get one SECC in 10 years at one of those schools but I doubt he'd win a MNC. He succeeded at LSU because it was a talent rich state and the school had a lot of resources. He is succeeding at Alabama because we have tons of resources and allow him to do things his way. We spend more on recruiting and football operations than anyone in the SEC. I don't think any of the 4 schools above would be willing to spend the money it requires to win big. We have more support staff than anyone in the nation..... nutrition specialist, high paid assistants, 1000s of hours recruiting in a private jet, ridiculous support facilities, etc. It costs lots of money to win consistently and the 4 listed above either don't have the money are aren't willing to spend it on football (cough, cough, UK). I think a case could be made that anyone else in the SEC would win a MNC under Saban.

I've a sneaking suspicion if Saban had gone to UGA instead of Alabama, he'd have had similar success. Not quite as good - but similar (as in BCS Championship similar).
