Yes. It may take him slightly longer at Kentucky or Vandy than a traditional football school, but he would be able to do it. Programs and fans would be ecstatic about having him and recruits flock to him because of how good he's been. I think he'd win a national championship at every school within 5-10 years of whatever program he took over.

So you see Saban as a distance runner kind of coach rather than a sprinter?

Holtz was a Mr. Fixit type of coach. He'd spring for a couple of seasons then burn-out.

Spurrier is a distance runner type of coach. He's all about building. He proved it at Duke, Florida and SCAR.

Is Saban really the kind of guy that could come in and have the patience to build a program at Vandy, Kentucky or MSU?

Pre-LSU Saban? Maybe, but maybe not.

Post-Bama Saban? Sure, he could get multiple top 5 recruiting classes at Mississippi St. on name alone.

What kind of championships? Maybe SEC championships. I don't think he could win national championships at some of those schools. Alabama and LSU had more tradition and better facilities than a lot of those other schools

but is there another university in the SEC that has the voter clout

This would be more to do with the combination of a Saban and Bama rather than one being independent and having that clout.

I really don't think so. Maybe one but not multiple.

Which begs the question of why he has been more successful at Bama than LSU.

Just thought about this, did Spurrier put you up to this?

Could he do it at Mississippi State? Kentucky? Vandy? Ole Miss?

Saban likely wouldn't win championships at any of those schools unless a lot of teams had down years and probably not Arkansas either. Its hard to get a lot of talent to those schools year in and year out. He has to have a lot of talent to win. You give him average talent and he loses to the likes of teams like ULM.

True...i guess though he'd have to build that at whatever new school though. At least for the lower tier ones.

How many top 5 classes has Spurrier had at SCar? Asking because I really don't know but Spurrier is definitely a name.

I'm not saying I think he would do that, but I do think he could. I think it would take more time at schools like Vandy and Kentucky because he wouldn't have top tier talent to work with right away, but he would still bring in top 5 recruiting classes because players would love the opportunity to play right away for Saban. I think if Saban went to a program like UGA, Ole Miss, or Texas A&M he could win right away because of the talent that is already there, along with the probable top 3 class he would bring in the first year he was there.

I think he could win an SEC title anywhere but Vandy. Give him a passionate fan base, decent facilities, and enough money and power to run his machine exactly how he wants it done, free from booster interference, and he could get enough talent to win.

He could probably win consistently at everywhere but Kentucky and Vandy.

Not like Saban. No college coach alive is.

Because he was a known comodity when he came to Bama.

The administration knew his potential so they gave him anything he wanted, took a hands-off approach and let him impliment his Process.

The fanbase was starved for a competitive product on the field - they poured their money, hearts, and souls into Bama football again.

When you have an administration that opens the bank vault and allows you carte blanc with the facilities coupled with rabid fan support - you can accomplish unprecedented success.

Saban knows how to evaluate talent - he knows how to get talent and he wins with it. The the frick more could a fan ask for?

No, we've seen what he can do at a USC, Arky level program-- 8-4 average maybe a couple of Sugar Bowls if he's lucky.

Put him at Vandy and he's lucky to match Franklin, MSU he's probably slightly better than Mullen, etc.
