I think the game thread is on here somewhere. I looked at it not too long ago.

Comparing the most glorious meltdowns

quote:

If I were a bama fan I'd be embarrassed that you had to have: Saban begging on national TV, the national media all kneeling in front of Saban pushing for a "redo" or a "do-over", and most sickeningly shameful, the fact that at least 6 BCS human poll voters actually DROPPED Oklahoma State to 5th or 6th after they annihilated Oklahoma for the Big 12 title.

...and you're still melting....

If stating what actually happened that caused an undeserving 3rd place SEC team to be 'placed' in the NCCG ahead of a conference champion with a much stronger SOS is 'melting', than so be it.

I call it a much more plausible name - the truth.

LSU and Georgia played in the 2011 SECCG. They were the 1st place and 2nd place SEC teams.

What purpose it served in even PLAYING the game though, is beyond comprehension.

I know it's hard to comprehend but no LSU and Georgia were not 1 and 2 in the SEC. They were 1 and 3, 2 being Alabama. The purpose of the SEC championship is the place the 1st team in the west (LSU at the time) up against the 1st team in the east(Georgia). That does not always mean it will be the top 2 team in the overall SEC.

The purpose of the BCS game is to place the top 2 teams in the country period. That was LSU and Alabama.

And here's how the BCS and Harris poll voters "decided" that:

actually, all six coaches who had Oklahoma State fourth or worse had the Cowboys behind Stanford.

Air Force's Calhoun gave Oklahoma State its lowest ranking at No. 5, behind Stanford at No. 3 and Arkansas at No. 4.

And the piece de resistance:

Seven Harris voters ranked Oklahoma State lower than fourth. Former Fresno State athletic director Scott Johnson, former Cal quarterback Craig Morton, former Kentucky center Jeff Van Note and Albuquerque (N.M.) Journal reporter Rick Wright had the Cowboys ranked fifth. Former Notre Dame wide receiver Derrick Mayes, former Hawaii coach Bob Wagner and former Iowa sports information director George Wine ranked Oklahoma State sixth.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is all fact. It has nothing to do with "melting." The BCS system then relied on point systems, and where the "human" poll voters ranked teams.

Hate to break it to you but that is irrelevant as far as the BCS goes...it's their job to pit #1 and #2 and that is what they did....

The ball went directly over the uprights.. confirmed by numerous angles. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean it was good.
