nope. He was a very good coach that took advantage of the system that was in place but Bowden and Paterno's accomplishments in the old school and modern football put them above Bryant.

Wow. Just wow. The man won 6 national titles and did it in about 25 fewer years than Paterno and Bowden.

9 in a row and 6 national titles gets AU fans a bit sensitive when Bryant's name is mentioned.

Having said that, unless you are 40 or older, the man is basically just a historical figure at this point. I admit most Bama fans obsess over him too much, but at least Saban has brought us into the 21st century.

Thanks for posting, hadn't seen that or heard some of it.

Didn't know about him helping raise money for waltrips surgery, etc.

Again let me say thanks for starting another Coach Bryant thread - so we can read more Rantard posts like the one below.

your precious coach was one of the biggest dicks to walk a sideline

I love seeing all the comments from other fanbases talking as if they actually knew the man.

You guys just wish you'd had a big dick like that walking your sidelines. You wear your jealousy well.

I think we simply misunderstand one another. In no way implied, expressed, or written was my post meant to spark a flame. NO ONE has more reverence for Coach Bryant than myself.

It is my hope that some folks here would use some maturity and quit being tards. However, I should have known better from this bunch. My apologies to the good guys here

As for my maturity, you need not question it. I can assure I possess as much, if not more, than most people posting here.

This can't be a serious post. At least Bowden's best was more recent, but the vast majority of Paterno's accomplishments came within 5 years of the Bear's death or before. All Paterno has done since then is run up his win total. To call Paterno a better coach then Bryant because his accomplishments were more recent is laughable.
