Bryant is dead and gumps do follow his actions off the field. Drinks beat up their wives in Alabama all the time.

The man could drink but he never hit his wife. I saw sides of him very few did. He was always very respectful of Mary Harmon. There was a rumor he had an affair in Lexington when he was coach there but it was the only rumor like that I ever heard.

Times were different then. How do you compare the other coach with a statue at Bryant Denney to Bryant?

No one will reach 14 SEC Championships again. Saban is one of the few that has a realistic chance to win 6 NC's but he won't win 14 SECC's. Think about that for a moment. 14?

Wallace Wade, Bryant, and now Saban. 3 of the best coaches to ever walk a football field.

Coach Bryant played football hard as a player, coached football hard as as coach, smoked Chesterfields regularly, enjoyed his liquor, treated women and children with great respect, and taught his players character and a hard work ethic... No one ever had a picture of him drunk or could substantiate him doing anything unworthy to his wife...small people will always try and tear down great leaders and opposing fans will many times throw mud at coaches who beat their teams arse, but one thing is clear...every real coach and every real player who played against a Paul Bryant team had nothing but respect for him....
