of interest to the SEC though, this also deregulates the rule that you must have divisions. In theory, the division's could be done away with and a new method for determining the two title game participants could be drawn up.

Thank God. I thought the exemption the ACC got made this possible already but its great to finally have this confirmed.

Rotate all 8 conference games. Top 2 get into the title game.
Head to head determines ties.
Record vs. common opponents the next tie break

Still don't have anything close to a balanced schedule that way though.

Would cycle through teams quicker.

You're never gonna have balanced schedules because some teams can over perform and some under perform every year.

As long as there is a set rotation that cycles through the entire conference quickly there will be no schedule complaining.

You didn't hear people whining about schedules before aTm and Mizzou came in and blew up the decent rotation we had going.

This is dumb, but if they want to do that to themselves, whatever. At least they won't be playing regular season games on champ weekend anymore though.

It also keeps them from having 3 bye weeks.

I like the idea of doing away with the divisons. I would have much rather seen a MSU/OM vs Bama title game than Bama vs Mizzou. GIve each school 2-3 permanent games/yr then rotate the others through. If you had 2 permanent rivals and rotated through the rest of the teams you could complete the cycel every 4 years. That would solve the problem of not visiting other teams enough and let the conference schedule stay at 8 games.

Oh, I'm sure you had some whining when one team had an easier path to the title game then another. Hell, we have that now.

You'd still have to have permanent games. So yeah, it would cycle through quicker but probably be less balanced because teams in divisions are forced to play at least 6 common opponents. The difficulty of schedule could be wildly different if divisions were eliminated.

So they're going to play everyone else in their conference...then play a CCG? Why?

Because they stubbornly refused to acknowledge that the lower ranked team who won the regular season head-to-head match-up was their champion this year.

Does anyone really think that a XII championship game, a rematch of TCU and Baylor, would make any money? Would it attract any viewers? Fans?

This game would have been deader than the PAC championship on a Friday night with a 10pm EST kickoff. At best, they will have a rematch of tu and OU.

The SEC is the gold standard. They are just trying to be like us because they aren't us. If the SEC would go to 9 games, our rotational issues would be solved.

Yep, it's the only chance for a team from the East to make it to the SECCG.

You realize that the East won the Title six times in a row at one point( equal to the current west streak)and the East has won 11 times, the West 12, right?

Seems pretty even to me. But you're smart enough to understand these things are cyclical.

No, No, NO!

You at least need 3 permanent games every year that rotate home and away.

Then the other 10 teams can rotate home and away every two years through the other 5 slots. You cycle through those 10 teams home and away in 4 seasons so each 4 year player sees every stadium in the conference and plays each team at least twice.

So Tennessee's 4 year schedule could look like this.

2016
Permanent
@Alabama
@Vanderbilt
Kentucky
Alternate
@Florida
@South Carolina
LSU
Arkansas
Ole Miss

2017
Permanent
Alabama
Vanderbilt
@Kentucky
Alternate
Florida
South Carolina
@LSU
@Arkansas
@Ole Miss

2018
Permanent
@Alabama
@Vanderbilt
Kentucky
Alternate
@Georgia
@Missouri
A&M
Auburn
Miss St

2019
Permanent
Alabama
Vanderbilt
@Kentucky
Alternate
Georgia
Missouri
@A&M
@Auburn
@Miss St

I think this would be the best way to do it. The three teams for each team would obviously cause some drama but wouldn't be impossible to figure out and keep most happy, IMO.

Alabama
Tennessee
Auburn
Miss St

Arkansas
Missouri
LSU
A&M

Auburn
Alabama
Georgia
Ole Miss

Florida
Georgia
South Carolina
Kentucky

Georgia

South Carolina

Tennessee

Vandy

LSU
Ole Miss
Arkansas
A&M

Miss St
Alabama
Ole Miss
Missouri

Missouri
Arkansas
A&M
Miss St

Ole Miss
Miss St
Auburn
LSU

South Carolina
Georgia
Florida
Vandy

Tennessee

Kentucky

Texas A&M

I actually like this idea. With the expansion it seems nuts that some SEC teams will never meet before their freshman graduate from college.

Under my scenario FL and Georgia would play every year. You would lose TN and FL (possibly you could keep it depending on how you shuffle the permanent three rivals).

Agree. No fixed opponents. Except, instead of 8, go to a 9 game league schedule.

I disagree, I think there are some games that HAVE to be played every year for the SEC to keep the appeal it has about being top competition and historic rivalries.

Games that must be played every year.

TN - Bama
Bama - Aub
UGA - Aub
UGA - UF
Ole Miss - Miss St
LSU - Ark
LSU - A&M
SC - UGA

Ect.

So the scenario I state keeps the MOST important rivalries and allows all the other teams to play twice (each home stadium) every four seasons.

Perfect combination.
