No, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if there are people calling for the end of the rivalry if/when they grow to 16 teams.

That's something I've always wondered. Hell, Auburn's rivalry is Bama. And vice versa.

I think Georgia is bigger rivals with Ga. Tech than Auburn.

Why you people so stuck in the past and shite?

what I never understood is does a game not became a "rivalry" once you don't play every year anymore?

If Tennessee is as big of a rivalry as Bama fans make it out to be, wouldn't it make the game that much bigger if they played it every other year or every four years, etc?

The biggest surprise to me out of this whole thing is just how big of a deal Tennessee is to Bama fans...I am a huge college football fan and I knew Bama and UTk were rivals but national perception is Bama-Auburn (I mean hell ESPN just did the whole 30 for 30 on it)

My point is I guarantee you most of the college football world thinks of Auburn and Bama way before Auburn and UTk

How many games did they have to give up?

If you think UK vs UT is bigger than any of UT's other rivals then Yes

The right way to deal with all this is to start by putting Alabama and Auburn in the East, Mizzou and A&M in the West, and moving Kentucky to the West. The initial shock will be a little hard, but within 3 years it will seem like the natural order of things. It will enable 'Bama and Auburn to play their "rivalry" games with Tennessee and Georgia, thus relieving the pressure on the concept of the permanent cross-division opponent, and will create some natural rivalries among Mizzou, Arkansas and Kentucky. And frankly, it will raise the level of play for teams like Florida, Georgia and South Carolina to have to plan for 'Bama and Auburn every year.

It sort of got relegated like Auburn/Florida. OU/Nebraska was always a rivalry that existed out of both programs being good and in the same conference. The have a state between them, so it was never really a border war. OU/tu was always more important to the Sooners, and in the 80s, Oklahoma State began to steal the thunder of the Huskers and started getting the game during rivalry week.

Are you out of your damn mind, put all but one of the SEC Football powers in the East? I'm can see the reason why a LSU would propose such madness. Get over the butthurt of the scheduling, everybody shot you down, including Florida, except SOS.

And while raising the level of play for FL/UGA/USC it would dilute the level of play for LSU, would it not?

Okay, let's go back the last 100 years.

Tennessee's winning percentage versus the SEC West:

Arkansas: 74%
LSU: 67%
Ole Miss: 70%
Miss State: 65%
Auburn: 44%
Alabama: 44%

Going by these numbers, the only teams to consistently challenge Tennessee are Alabama and Auburn. So we're dodging Auburn I guess.

you do realize Florida doesn't get any recruiting advantage from Texas as a result of this, right? We aren't scared of playing yall.

Did you even read the article? This is a college football writer with no ties to LSU or any other SEC school

I agree that Bama and Auburn should move to the East to preserve the rivalry, if it comes to that, but that means LSU is a giant among midgets in the West. 5 of the Big 6 will be in the East and LSU will run roughshod over everyone. A&M might eventually get to the point where they will challenge and Arkansas might pose a threat every 4 or 5 years, but it will be LSU winning the West 75-80% of the time.

I think UGA, Auburn, Bama, and Tennessee should tell Slive to go frick hisself and go form the Southern Awesome Conference and we'll invite Florida, LSU, Ole Miss, and Vandy (every conference needs their whipping boys). All are founding members of the SEC, and we'd keep the Big 6 intact while maintaining academic credibility (Vandy, UF, UGA) and hot co-eds (pretty much everyone sans Vandy).
