CFN: The SEC's 6-1-1 Disaster

CFN's take: LINK

The SEC has twisted itself into a scheduling pretzel to preserve two games of great historical significance. It won’t last.
Howdy Arkansas, and congratulations! You’ve won the right to host the Missouri Tigers every other year! In exchange, you now only welcome the Georgia Bulldogs once every 12 seasons.
That trip out to Gainesville too pricey for you, A&M fans? Well then, you best take a few extra pictures this September to remember the Gators because Muschamp and his College Station-loving self won’t circle back around until the year 2024.
And don’t chuckle too hard, South Carolina. You only get to see the Alabama Crimson Tide roll on into Columbia once every three presidential election cycles. LSU too. And Auburn. And Arkansas.
Welcome to the 6-1-1 schedule, SEC fans – as brutal a compromise as the league could've come up with, and it's all to preserve two games for four schools: Alabama vs. Tennessee and UGA vs. Auburn.

Brace yourself - the Mad Hatter is absolutely correct. The dedicated cross-divisional game structure is also unbalanced. How can one argue otherwise, other than try to divert attention from the facts?
You can certainly suggest that teams cycle in and out of excellence. Absolutely. But that doesn’t change the fact that this structure is, at its core, inequitable for whichever teams are forced to play every year the better teams of that era. Today, Florida’s having to play LSU every season is a material advantage for South Carolina. Period.

If you werent a bama fan youd understand why the rest of the nation thinks its a shitty scheduling model.

I'm fine with having Florida. Great game, best teams in the SEC over the last 15-20 years, etc. etc.
But I am glad that this whole discussion took place. Once everyone lets it digest over the next few years and looks at it objectively, everyone will finally come to the realization that this model sucks long-term.

SEC going to a 6-1-1?? The conference is doomed!!!!!! Won't win a national championship ever again!! Save your soul the end is near!!

He simply confirmed the latest regards to the situation. Why even reply if it is with such ineffective sarcasm? JP is one of the greats here...... End of story.

And if you were a Bama fan, you'd realize that us playing TSIO is more important to us than the opinion of a few people whose favorite teams don't even have real rivals.

It really does. Does a conference have tradition at its core when it adds teams? No, so why is this so important. The simple solution was to move the Alabama schools East(if tradition is really what is wanted), seeing as they screwed the whole thing up to begin with. Move Missouri back were it is (West of the Mississippi River) and move Vandy as well since they really dont have a rival

I'm really over this conversation at this point now that everything has been finalized. It is what it is, and this topic has been beaten to death over the last 2 weeks.
Nonetheless
Nope.

The older generation of Bama fans are of the opinion that the season wouldnt be complete if AL/Tenn didnt play because they consider TN to be their main rival. The younger generation of bama fans could care less if they play TN every year because they look at Aub as their main rival.
But the scheduling should be made to reflect whats best for the entire conference, not just 4 teams.
