Can someone tell me why the SEC wants OU?

I completely understand the history of their program, but I just don't see a need or necessarily a desire to expand.
They are valuable. Not in the sense that drove the last round of realignment, but that may not be as important now with ESPN cratering anyway.
I don't see these TV contracts being expanded. He'll, I'm not 100% confident in getting paid what has been promised.
What's the draw of two more mouths to feed (especially if they would have to bring Okie Light) if it doesn't add to the pie? What motivation would current member schools have to approve such a move?
Doesn't make sense to me in the current climate.

OU will not be invited to the SEC. Makes no sense.

Main reason is if we're making the move to super conferences and the Big 12 is dissolving, you want the OU/Texas programs, not the Texas Tech/Kansas States.

Your title contains a false assumption. The SEC does not want OU.

I don't really think they do. There is nothing really attractive about OU. But then we all thought the same thing about Missouri and look what happened. I guess we just felt Texas A&M would be good for the SEC and the only way we could make it happen was if we accepted their little brother too.

Only realistic expansion that is see with OU is the Big 10. Maybe PAC 10 with TCu growing as a brand.
Big 10 can leverage OU as a way to get UT into the conference.
I always thought the PAC 12 plan to swallow up the best of the Big 12 back before 2012 could have worked. Maybe with tCu money they could make A run at it again.
It's ridiculou

They also took Arkansas.
Things change.

The SEC does not want Oklahoma.

I don't think the SEC wants OU at all. I think the only way the SEC expands will be up the Atlantic seaboard into ACC country.

If ESPN is cratering with declining viewership, it could make sense to consolidate conferences for bargaining power. OU has a huge following.

Officially where is the SEC saying they want OU? other than SECR rumors?

Bargaining power. I get this line of thinking, and that's their appeal of course.
But I still don't think anyone has figured out how to get blood out of a turnip.

We don't. The SEC is moving to expand eastward.

Only delusional sooner fans, cause they're the only ones talking about this.

If by turnip you mean ESPN then I would agree. Despite the declining viewership, eyeballs are going to other mediums as we all know. So, I still think content is king no matter what the channel its distributed on. OU is an attractive brand with huge following: OU vs. (Insert current SEC team) will get a lot of views. It would enhance the portfolio that is the SEC. There aren't any others like it that could be up for grabs.

If they decide to leave the big 12 or the big 12 dissolves, I think it would be fun to see OU go to the Big 10. It would add another traditional school into their mix and it would make it more interesting besides having OSU and UM (with Penn State on the rise) simply run that conference. Having OU and UM in one division, and OSU and Penn State in the other would add more balance to that conference and make CFB more interesting IMO.
UT should be independent. If BYU can pull it off, UT would thrive on it with already having the longhorn network and being that they're UT. They could make a really awesome custom schedule, including bringing back the aTm rivalry game, keeping up with the OU rivalry and adding fun match ups like USCw, ND, etc.
But I can dream.
