Surely this guy is just trolling. What is "political" about flying the American flag?

The guy is known for trolling. He's the one who pushed for Cowhurd to be fired after the Dominican baseball player remark.

The guy is an attorney, left wing activist, who used his baseball "lead writer" job for NBC Sports to promote his far left wing political agenda.

Just don't watch NBC, NBC Sports, etc. He hates the South, his network hates the South .... just tune them and him out. Ignore them. It's that simple.

Err... so that I have this straight... you think a half second fly over by a few jets means that we, as a country, are bowing to the demands of a military that can't even stop Congress from requiring them to buy tanks and planes and keep open bases they don't need?

I see. Yes. Yes you are quite correct. The US is way more then just our military. There are also quite a few complete morons here as well. I stand corrected on the matter and I assure you, I will not, in the future, forget that fact.

This is anti-American BS at its worst. The real mixing of politics and sports is going on at ESPN.

He's lecturing mainstream America for our views on Kapernick, while ignoring a the fact that Kap was ON the clock when making his "statement" and he was wearing an employer provided uniform, thus making it impossible to separate said employer from said "statement".

Kap could have done any number of radio or TV interviews expressing his thoughts and most would have disagreed, but said it was his right. It was his "i'm putting this in your face whether you like it or not b/c i'm right and you're wrong" attitude that rub people the wrong way.

Come on, if it was a political advertising scheme to increase the subliminal desire of teenagers and children to idealize the military and later enlist then there would be a paper trial...oh wait: the military paid $53,000,000+ a year to sporting events for military moments... so yes it's a political calculation.
