NBC Sports lead baseball writer states it's a political stunt and should be kept out of sports.

Its Americas Pasttime for a reason, the flag stays. And as for flybys, if they dont get the crowd pumped then nothing does. Noone wants a dead crowd to start the game, especially on the big games and gamedays.

Don't think is going to turn out well for him

I state he's a garbage journalist and should be kept out of the news but it's not going to happen. Just like this won't change anything.

only in 2017 can people be offended by their country's flag

Stop giving these idiots attention. I didn't know who Calcaterra was before this post. I hope I forget who he is by the end of the day.

It's sad that simply expressing patriotism and love for your country and has become a "political" issue for these people. I'm afraid the American experiment may have jumped the shark. Letting people like this have a say in the way we govern ourselves is dangerous.

I agree on prefering to keep politics out of sports.
I don't view flag displays as "political", though.

It's equally sad that our patriotism has become synonymous with militarism.
I say keep the flag, but remove the militarism, including flyovers - at least for professional sports. Flyovers and military displays make sense at colleges that have a military tradition.

I've always felt that it was pointless to play the national anthem at sporting events.

Surely this guy is just trolling. What is "political" about flying the American flag?

He says keep politics out of sports, but these liberals want "your" politics out of sports not their's. They love talking about queers, minorities, females, etc. in sports. Damn weirdos.

He wants the attention. Take a gander at his account. He's eating the reactions up.

It's sports related.... It happens every week in every sport.
Here's my personal opinion on it. I don't want it to lose it's meaning. Anything can be over done. However, nothing political about this. It's been done no matter what party is in control.
Unless being an American is now political... F him.
