Aside from that, you can point to almost any team in the country as having an awful game within the last 5 years.
You mean....like Notre Dame in almost every bowl game they have played in the past 10 years?

Exactly. ND could have joined any conference in America and instead chose to half-join the weakest one. Oh, but they want to play the SEC but don't have any open spots?
What would make UGA a natural game for them?

You know...I've been doing some studying on the best states for High School football, and most agree that the big 5 are California, Texas, Ohio, Florida and Georgia...not in any particular order. Past those 5, though, Alabama was ranked fairly high as well as Louisiana. I think BOTH were in the top 10 with Bama being around 7-8 and Louisiana 9-10.

I love how this is conveniently glossed over too. They're 2-11 in bowl game since '95. And we're not talking just BCS bowls. We're talking bowls like the Insight Bowl, the Sun Bowl, etc.

See Colorado embarrassment and Boise choke
Boise WAS ranked #5 in the country and we were #19...so....choke? Really?
OOC teams played by South Carolina over the past 5 years that is not their major rival.
Yep. You guys picked out all the powerhouses....we're really glad you managed not to lose to one of them.
Wofford (Twice)
East Carolina (Twice)
The Citadel
UAB (Twice)
Troy
NC State
Florida Atlantic
South carolina State (Twice)

Absolutely, Belle! Yet, the media won't ever mention this because it exposes the Notre Dame myth.
Thanks for looking it up, Belle! I knew it was bad, but I was being too lazy to do the work and look it up.

I'm not knocking UGA's OOC schedule, cos aside from the annual game against GT it's been pretty good. And y'all can't help that they suck.
But you're a little off (and disingenuous) on your games USC has played OOC.
Since a few other UGA fans have counted this year's game against Clemson, that means USC should count this year's game against UNC, too, as well as this year's game against UCF (can't talk shite about UCF, UGA fans...)
So, since 2007,
UNC (2x)
NCSU with a NFL rookie-of-the-year at QB (2x)
ECU (2x)
UCF once, though USC played them in 2005, as well.
Navy once
Southern Miss once
The games against Wofford, Citadel, SCSU, Furman and the Citadel really can't be thrown in USC's face, as they're done to help keep money in the state. It's not a "law," per se, but Clemson and USC both are strongly encouraged to schedule the other schools inside the state as a way to help their athletic budgets and pad an easy win.
I'd love for Carolina to schedule a home-and-home with FSU, Louisville, Va Tech, West Virginia or someone of that ilk in a relatively decent proximity. Still, as far as our OOC schedule goes, it's not nearly as bad as some of the other schools in the conference.

Bu UNC is a hit and miss team. Personally (And I could be wrong...I am quite often!) I couldn't put them in the same category as a #5 Boise, or a #6 Clemson, or Oklahoma State....
As for the weak opponents to keep money in the state? Doesn't matter..they scheduled them. I doubt there is a program out there that schedules their opponents just to keep money in the state.
As for NC State..no matter who their QB was, they were STILL NC State.
I also understand that South Carolina cannot schedule ( FSU, Louisville, Va Tech, West Virginia) all those guys in a single year..but really, other than Clemson who is a natural rival, name a team that was ranked in the top 10 or 15 or even 20 that South Carolina has played?
The ONLY reason I am bringing this up is because everyone seems to be wanting to talk about Georgia getting beat by OOC foes. Well, look at who we play. When everyone else plays quality teams like this, then they can talk. (Alabama does a good job with this, so they can pretty much say what they want! )
Oh...I also realize that Georgia has Georiga Southern and some weak opponents, too, but we DO usually schedule at least one non rival tough team every year.

Keep in mind, UNC NOR UCF is ranked. Georgia will at least schedule ranked opponents OOC.

Cant we go back to making fun of ND?

Ohio State, because they have to. And apparently Florida.

So how exactly is his statement calling UGA out? Sounds more like he said he wants to play them but their schedule doesn't allow it.
Posted on 8/2/13 at 2:34 pm to Big Bam
Why is this a natural matchup?
Kelly had a nice season where almost bounce went his way.
I am pretty sure that UGa would have skull dragged the Irish as badly as Bama did but then I also believe aTm, So Carolina, UF and LSU would have as well.

ND vs Miami is natural...stick to that series so we can laugh at two bad teams beating each other please.

Good idea. Sorry.
MAN, have I said how much I HATE Notre Dame????

I agree. At LEAST 5 teams in the SEC would have beaten Notre Dame.

That's bull shite GA gets paid to play the smaller teams in their state same as everybody else.

Calm down there, hoss. The statement was made that teams purposely schedule teams from their own state JUST SO THEY KEEP THE MONEY INSIDE THEIR STATE.
I personally doubt that anybody actually does this. I don't think anybody takes into consideration where the money goes. I guess, if you stop and really think about it, it is logical. I mean, schools that get money from the state might because pressure is put on them to keep money inside the state...but I just don't buy it. Nobody is accusing anybody of doing something wrong or unethical.
