OMG Mettenberger must be Dak Prescott as well!

I never played college football, and I have as many rushing TDs as Mettenberger (I have more rushing yards than he does).

2) The Dak Prescott comparisons resonate

There is one HUGE GLARING difference. Dak could and can throw. Dobbs has never been able to hit anything.

Anyone know how many SEC championships Dobbs won while at UT?

You are absolutely right. Look at their college career numbers. Dak completed 62.8% of his passes, while Dobbs completed a paltry 61.5%/ That is a HUGE 1.3% difference.

I remember back to early in Dobbs' recruitment. MSU was convinced that we had him and that he was going to step in to Dak's shoes and make us better.
Oh, to be young again

Lol that comparison is an insult to Dak. Dak has significantly more passing yards and touchdowns and less interceptions. He also has a higher QBR. Dak also had more rushing yards and touchdowns. Hell, Dak even had more receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns. He also did this in the Sec West which is significantly better than the East.

Dobbs averaged more yards per rush and reception than Dak, and averaged more yards per play from scrimmage than Dak.

Dak started 12 more games than Dobbs (so the equivalent of an entire season). In those 12 games he gained 361 more rushing yards. So Dobbs averaged:

- 7 more rushing yards per start than Prescott;
- 0.02 more touchdowns per start than Prescott;
- 0.01 more passing touchdowns per start than Prescott;
- 0.03 more rushing touchdowns per start than Prescott;

Remember...Dak had the advantage of being redshirted for a season...Dobbs was thrown in against Alabama as a True Freshman.

Dobbs did play in the SEC East...but played against Alabama every year. Also, Dobbs played a much harder out of conference schedule than Prescott.

You are going to be so disappointed when Dobbs never takes a meaningful NFL snap...

don't take it personal man. Anyone that has ever watched Dobbs knows he lack accuracy big time. I remember Dak hitting receivers in stride on deep outs all the time. can't say I remember the same for Dobbs. He won't be an NFL qb.

/thread over for Dak defenders who think it's a terrible slight to be compared to Dobbs despite the stats showing Dobbs had a better career and did so with less time and ZERO DRAFT PICKS for the last TWO YEARS.

Not really. It took tons of luck for Dak to get a shot. The same is true for Dobbs who is projected to go anywhere between 2nd and 4th round. He's not an instant starter and he needs to go to a team with an older QB or one that's injury prone to get his shot. If he does, hopefully he makes the most of it just like Dak did. That's why folks are making the it -- *if* the right circumstances happen Dobbs can be a starter It's not their game (it's not that similar) but the fact that both have been overlooked a QBs.

I don't get why people are upset with the Dobbs/Dak comparisons. Mullen wanted Dobbs to follow Prescott or battle Prescott for PT. Dobbs is a helluva player who could get paid to play football. What more does he need to do?

He can't read defenses on the fly like Dak could/can.

Prescott is going to be the QB that every dual threat is compared to for a few years
