I should've thrown in a "we have a better play caller" comment in there to really get this thread rolling

NM has a whole season starting over Sims. This would be a good February thread if retitled "Who was a better QB this year?"

Yeah I have no idea who will ultimately be better. I think Sims has a different type of potential than NM, but at the same time, what we've seen of Sims hasn't convinced me he's going to be a complete, top level college QB either. It's just too soon to assess/compare with any real meaning.

I would guess you are smarter than Nick Marshall, although your performance in this thread isn't totally convincing.

On a semi-related note, I think it's fair to say that both Sims and Kiffin turned out better than expected.

Marshall's played in 2-1/2 games this year... with only one of those vs a cupcake... nicks also played a true road game vs a pretty salty defense (where he played well)... sims has face a couple cupcakes and a pillow soft WVU defense.

are yall really gonna sit around and act like Arky is significantly better than Florida?

I had a bit more faith in Kiffin then Sims, but they are definitely blowing my expectations away

In keeping with the pissing contest theme, they have both out performed their cross state counterparts so far this season.

Of course not defensively... but nick only played half the game vs their shite defense, some of which the backups played bc we blew them out.

We'll agree to disagree there: if Saturday was indicative of his potential and he can learn to communicate the offense effortlessly and with confidence, he will be an extremely dangerous QB.

I will agree that I'd like to see how he'll perform in a hostile environment, though.

how do we know k state is a salty defense? their 2 other games are against an FCS team and Iowa State, who they nearly lost to (and who put up more points and almost as many yards on them as the Barn did). Its kind of a joke that k state is still ranked

I mean, it could be because you're obtuse, I really don't know the basis of your deficiency.

I like Sims a lot, but needs more evidence to see how he responds under pressure in a tight game. Nick has shown that when he needs to make a play that he can and does.

UF is not a good team, they sucked last year and should be 1-2 now. They will have a losing record at the end of the season.

This doesn't tell the whole story.

[Florida is] a far worse team offensively than defensively. While 'Bama had some ball security issues Saturday, some of those turnovers were forced by Florida defenders.

And though he kind of got clowned on by Amari, Hargreaves isn't a cornerback to scoff at by any stretch of the imagination.

ETA: Is it inappropriate that I'm actually talking football in this thread? I mean, if this thread has descended into ITAT vs. BamaMag levels of shitty, then I'm probably wasting my fricking time, right?

I'm biased, but I just need more if I were giving you my best assessment of what I thought Sims would turn out to be. The stats aside, it wasn't the Kenny Hill performance of total domination that would inspire that type of impression, for me.

I thought he made a couple of unforced errors, but otherwise ran the offense well. I have no reason to think he won't be able to do that, but to me, that isn't the same as being a complete top level QB.

Yeah, you've really thrown out some pretty sharp barbs. I'll try and prepare myself for our next intellectual battle.

Oh, I agree. He definitely needs more games under his belt for a complete assessment.

I'll agree that he needs some polish yet, but see no reason why that can't come as the year wears on. Fair enough, though.
