That's just stupid. I'm living in Arizona atm and I see more Oregon paraphernalia on a daily basis than I do Arizona stuff. Oregon is famous for their fan support and their crowd noise. Their home field advantage is one of the greatest in all of college football.

You don't know what the frick you're talking about. There wasn't a damn Oregon fan in the country early 90s. Their stadium holds 50k and is only that loud due to the design of the stadium. Their fans don't stroll in and fill up the stadium until the 2nd quarter. They are some of the worst fans in the country and most PAC 10 fans share that belief.

And if there is such a Southeastern bias in recruiting - why is the greatest class of all time considered to be held by USC?

And as to which team has recruited better in reality - coaching is our downfall - it has nothing to do with the talent we being in - look at all the guys drafted from here in the past even during our suck. We've had talent - just shitty coaching and tons of attrition due to shitty coaching.

Go back and read my post again. Especially this part:

We should just be honest about this. There's a regional/southern obsession with recruiting rankings that gives the recruiting services ranking classes a strong incentive to talk up recruits for programs with more paying subscribers. With that in mind you can probably compare programs within the same region and with the same numbers of fans with some degree of confidence.

Southern California (especially under Carroll) was the standard bearer for California and was as much of a newsmaker as the Lakers in Cali or the Knicks in NY (even when the Lakers or Knicks are terrible they are still considered newsworthy and get a more than healthy amount of coverage).

Southern Cal had tremendous recruiting classes but they received the same sort of bounce in the ratings as a Notre Dame or an Alabama or a Texas - because there are just a lot of interested fans who follow those teams (and it makes the recruiting companies money)

the instate talent argument isn't really applicable. they're about the same in terms of talent. at least according to the last few recruiting cycles.

You guys are a little weird in that Memphis considered in-state, although it really isn't. UT gets skullfricked in Memphis almost every year.

Lots of Vol fans seem to thing there's some mythical allegiance to the state. The fact is that more than half of the schools in the SEC are closer to Memphis than UT. Hell, Columbus, OH, and Indianapolis, are closer to UT than Memphis is.

Clemson to me is basically on equal footing right now with SC in every category but just has more tradition.

Except 1 thing, the $ we get from the SEC.

This is actually true. They say the devil lives in Hell because it was too hot in Cola.

Edit: also, this...

Riiiight. I at least know that USC fans would be one of the last ones to pay attention to a recruiting site.

It may currently be tougher to win at UT... but imho, this is not even a real question.

As per your listed arguments. UT. Not even close. Parts I disagree with? UT has a far more passionate fanbase. In-state talent comes and goes.

And just so you bastard UT fans know... it's so awesome UT has been shitty for this long! Long deserved stretch of cold for their fans!
