This has nothing to do with anything and that was not even close to our worst loss in SEC play. That Tennessee team was really just not very good at all and UGA losing to them means they didn't deserve a shot at a national title imo.

Can't say that. LSU lost to Arkansas and Kentucky.

Why? Which part of the season were they super impressive? Because it wasn't the beginning, middle, or end.

They were super impressive after the UT game. They were kickin arse and taking names the rest of the season

I wouldn't necessarily call Hawaii a lucky draw. We didn't want them. We wanted USC. And many folks picked Hawaii to beat us. Not only did we beat them, but we beat the silly shite out of them. Auburn and Florida were both somewhat impressive wins. We beat OKlahoma State and Tech out of conference. It wasn't like we swept a gauntlet, but we did beat some decent teams and we did so convincingly with the same number of losses that the eventual national champion had

After the UT game:

20-17 win over Vanderbilt
42-30 over Florida
44-34 over Troy
45-20 over Auburn
24-13 over Kentucky
31-17 over Georgia Tech
41-10 over Hawaii

They went 11-2 and won the Sugar Bowl. It's not like that was a banner year for college football when LSU wins the title with a 12-2 record and losses to Kentucky and Arkansas. There's a reason they were preseason #1 in 2008, and that was due to their play in 2007.

Hawaii was a complete fraud.

I'm not saying it wasn't a strong ending to the season, but I don't see any reason to be sure it was the best.

All wins, right? LSu couldn't say the same for that stretch (not trying to tear down LSU's accomplishment, just saying for comparison)

And there is a reason 2008 was a letdown. It was because they were vastly overrated.

There was also a reason no one with a brain thought they would actually win it all.

I don't think there is any denying that, but it's not like we were faced with an option of USC and Hawaii and we took Hawaii because of their record. We got stuck with them and effectively ruined Colt Brennan's career and decisively set back the mid-major cause from the embarrassing loss that Oklahoma coughed up to Boise State just the year before

To be fair, a lot of people thought we could do it. Granted the odds weren't and, obviously, shouldn't have been good, but there still was a good chance at the time and a lot of people thought we coudl do it, hence the #1 ranking

Yeah, we're actually intimidated by the 2007 Georgia team our team ran out of the stadium.

Thanks for getting Fulmer another year, though.

Yeah... Say what you will about UGA's 2008 campaign, but Bama taking it in the arse from Utah was definitely the disappointment of that season, especially considering the way they handled us at home
