LSU, because we basically return everybody from last years squad and they were the #1 secondary last year.

LSU or UF

LSU had the best secondary last year the only losses are Jalen Collins and Ronald Martin. Jalen Mills will start a safety and slide down as the 3rd corner in nickle and Ricky Jefferson will come in as the SS. Jamal Adams will be the other starting safety and could be one of the best in the country as a sophomore. Senior Corey Thompson will be the 4th safety in rotation. Tre White will be CB1 and Dwayne Thomas will be the dime back and both are experience and talented.

The only slight question mark is the starting 2nd corner. From everything I've read it's between Ed Paris and Kevin Toliver. Because of this I give UF the nod right now, but LSU could end up better by season's end, again.

Florida had a rough first 3 games last year in the secondary, which was mostly on the coaching staff leaving really inexperienced players in horrible positions.

Once the coaching staff sorted shite out and got their heads out of their collective asses, the defense was awesome the rest of the year in the secondary.

Based on the improvement the last half of the year, and the experience and talent of the roster, I'd say that UF has the best secondary in the SEC.

Florida gave up 8 TD to 5 INT in the first 3 games.
Florida gave up 6 TD to 11 INT in the last 9 games. Big difference.

VH3 got abused by Amari Cooper.

It was more like defensive genius Muschamp getting abused by Kiffin. He switched up the defense, and Cooper, Kiffin and the entire Alabama O picked it apart. One of the bigger stories of the game was that we weren't playing man and VH3 wasn't covering Cooper.

Mississippi State lost a lot of talent

You just don't know what you're talking about. We return Redmond and Calhoun at CB. Safety is the question but not due to anything we "lost" last year.

Top 4 backs will all be juniors or seniors. Unless Peters or McLaurin is good enough to start as a Fresh, which would obviously be a bonus.

Probably Florida. They have two first round corners

We have two first round safeties in Mills and Adams. Tre White has first round talent but will probably go in the second or third because of his size. Tolliver is a future first round pick, and I'd need to see more out of Ed Paris, Donte Jackson, and Dwayne Thomas to see where they could fall.

Amari Cooper blasted VH and Florida's secondary last year for 10 rec 201 yds and 3 tds. LSU gave up 8 rec 83 yds and 1 td with our 3rd best corner Jalen Collins, who was a 2nd round pick last year, covering him for a majority of the game. There's no question LSU is DBU and has a better secondary than Florida.

UT's is up there. Good Mix of Talent and experience

Agreed.

To me, Tennessee is kind of on the outside looking in as it pertains to overall secondary talent. They're above every other SEC team, but below Alabama, LSU, Florida, and Ole Miss at the time.

Uga had the 2nd best pass d efficiency last year in the sec.

FLORIDA- The REAL DBU

You seem like you're new to this, so when Florida gets a team that's as good as this one you can call yourselves DBU. Otherwise it makes you look bad. PS: This was without patrick Peterson

I agree, while I think there are some better overall secondaries it'll be interesting how our pass rush makes them look.

keanu neal could land himself in the first round

from the camp marcus maye is having he could end up in the first 3 rounds too

people thinking uf only has vh3 are really trippin

shite poole and neal both had really good seasons last yr and quincy wilson and jalen tabor are both 6'1" corners who made damn good plays season their battling for the spot opposite vh3

Tennessee and Georgia are solid.

I was educated today on the talent of the UGA secondary.

How is Georgia's overall defense looking this fall?

not sure really. I haven't followed some of the east's recruiting as much as the west. I just read something a week or so ago on their secondary and remember watching them last year.

Tennessee will be pretty good too, I agree.

linebackers will be elite. Leonard Floyd, Jordan Jenkins, Lorenzo Carter all return. We'll get pressure on QBs. ILBs have talent and some experience, but didn't start much last year. We should still be fine. Secondary looks really solid. Our biggest question on defense is the DL, which is a little up in teh air. We dont' have any names that the rest of the league will be afraid of, but 5* and #1 overall player Trent Thompson is already making a name for himself at DT. He might not start game 1, but he'll start in september at some point. If we get above average DL play our defense shoudl be as good as its been in a few years.
