The amount of NFL contributors from that 2011 LSU-Alabama game is just stupid. Alabama NFL Players in 2011 Game Trent Richardson Mark Barron Dre Kirkpatrick Donta Hightower Courtney Upshaw Josh Chapman Dee Milliner Chance Warmack DJ Fluker Eddie Lacey Nico Johnson Barrett Jones Quinton Dial CJ Mosley HHCD Kevin Norwood Ed Stinson Vinnie Suneri LSU NFL Players in 2011 Game Mo Claiborne Michael Brockers Rueben Randle Brandon Taylor Ron Brooks Barkevious Mingo Eric Reid Kevin Minter Bennie Logan Tyrann Mathieu Tharold Simon Lavar Edwards OBJ Ego Ferguson Jarvis Landry Lamin Barrow Alfred Blue

Also Ware, Wing, Boone, Barrow, Johnson, Montgomery Wright, Loston, Shepard, Turner and Ford for LSU. Not to mention both teams will have more players from that game going to the league come May of '15.

Just nuts. Every NFL game I watch now seems to have 2-3 guys from that game in it.

Alabama had almost 400 yards in the 2nd game. They moved the ball between the 20s pretty easily. Had trouble finishing drives.

So they played a John Chavis defense.

IF LSU's 2011 D got to face LSU's 2011 O twice, it wouldn't even be a debate.

People forget the 2011 LSU D/SP was responsible for much of the "points" the 2011 team scored.

I don't forget that. The offense was pretty average. It benefitted from a short field most of the year.

Lsu rape trained everyone they played in 2011 and scored 9 points in 8+ quarters on that defense.

Which we all know should have been 4+

And we shouldn't have had to play the losers again.

2011 D and Special Teams were sick.

Exactly. At least we can agree on one thing.

I don't get why the 2011 LSU vs Bama D turns into a massive dick measuring contest, they were the two most dominating defenses of my lifetime and when both those teams actually showed up to play, it was something special.

Call me a homer, but I maintain that the 2011 LSU defense was better. Statistically their numbers were not significantly different with Bama having a slight edge in a few categories. The eyeball test for these numbers is very misleading based on the offenses that LSU played as opposed to those that Bama faced. The non common opponents that LSU faced had much higher ranked offenses, and therefore confounded the numbers. Also LSU had a more accurate sample size.

They were both great defenses. It's really hard to say who was better. Alabama had a better offense than LSU did in 2011. The LSU offense lived off of the momentum carried by the defense. A lot of the points scored that season were either defense and special teams, or setup by defense and special teams. And that should speak volumes to how great the LSU defense was considering how many points a Les Miles team scored that year

Me neither. So many great players playing hard and fast and physical and clean.

Under 400 yards isn't that bad considering how pitiful the offensive performance was.

Exactly. Over 40 minutes of possession time as I recall. Any other defense would have given up over 40 or 50 that night.
