Alabama is severely hurt by not being able to count the University of Alabama School of Medicine's nearly $300 million annual R&D total because of the semantics of the name changing to University of Alabama AT Birmingham. Alabama would be in the Top 70 of that ranking if not for the semantics of the integration of the UA School of Medicine morphing into the UAB SOM.
And ro be fair, if you're going to use a University System for the endowment ranking it would stand to reason that the system should be ranked as a whole for the other ranking

It is how they are ranked, I do not make the rules
The issue is correct on the system issues as some schools like Kentucky have a singular system and Louisville has a singular system. Schools like Texas A&M have multiple campuses so Texas A&M just College Station and not their satellite schools like SA and CC in a system with about a dozen campuses across the state.
Alabama is split into 3 schools and are separate for a reason. Baylor in Waco is terrible but Baylor Medical in Houston is a whole different story. It is good they are not combined because they are two different schools from a view of the world. Rice at one time almost took over Baylor Medical but would want no part of Baylor in Waco.

Love all the Aggie and Mizzou fans piling in to tell us why adding OU is a bad idea.
We have been in a conference with OU. OU is a bunch of Yankees. They would fit in culturally much better in the Big 10 or PAC 12. Definitely not SEC. Believe me, an away trip to North Carolina or Virginia would be much more enjoyable than Oklahoma.

Who would we kick out? Adding Oklahoma schools would just be fist fricking the fans and athletes
...but there will be idiots on this board defend it "hur hur dur tv markets!!! dur revenue!!!"

FYI, the actual distribution of the endowment is a complex subject and it should not be implied that the money is spread equally across the system.

Birmingham = Medical
Huntsville = Tech
Tuscaloosa = General
If you read the response above see the example of Baylor.

I wouldn't necessarily disagree with you. I have been to Norman and OKC. I don't know about Yankee but they are a different breed of cat for sure....
I find it amusing when the Ags pile into these threads.....we know that you guys want to be the only ones flying the SEC banner in the great state of Texas.

None of the OU fans respect anything Berry Tramel says or does.

The sec has some nice roots here and there is plenty of talent to go around. You'd have to consider changing the name of the conference if you expand the boundary outside the southeast.
Id rather kick 2 out like Vandy and Mizzou but I'd like adding a Virginia school, Louisville, Clemson, Ga Tech, FSU or Miami.

OU/Oklahoma St to the SECW and Alabama/Auburn to the SECE. Mizzou flips to the SECW.
All of those games that prevented an easy rotation of West vs East matchups remain intact, and the geography makes sense.
However, Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama and Auburn will whine of the imbalance, but who gives a shite?

Neither OU nor UT have the talent level to compete on a weekly basis in the SEC. Check out the NFL draft statistics. They are in a very weak league. They would be ground to dust in the SEC.
Oh yeah.....we've really been ground to dust by your league and have no talent to compete.

Take your ugly oil and swamp State school and join the Big 12 where your belong. A charter school betraying another charter school is as low as it gets.

The SEC messed up its expansion plans.
Ideally, SEC should have added Clemson and Florida St at some point.
We still can.
Take Arkansas with you when you leave.

OU isn't handcuffed to Oklahoma State.
Every time this argument comes up someone says this exact thing and it is false.
OU will end up leaving at some point and OSU will end up going another direction.
