This is incorrect. Always has been. Both teams have been in different conferences before the state has nothing to do with it.

UT considers the SEC to be a bunch of std ridden cousin molesting imbeciles. OU is latched on to their bro.

Neither OU nor UT have the talent level to compete on a weekly basis in the SEC. Check out the NFL draft statistics. They are in a very weak league. They would be ground to dust in the SEC.

If Texas joined the SEC, y'all would be the grinders of Texas, immediately.

Nope. SEC Bylaws *3.1.2 Granting of Membership. Membership may be granted by invitation of the Conference at a meeting of the Chief Executive Officers. A vote of at least three-fourths of the members is required to extend an invitation for membership.

So 11 member schools must approve, which means 4 member schools could nix it. I have no inside information, but I imagine if USC objected to Clemson joining that Texas A&M and Florida would vote with them for obvious reasons. One more nay vote needed.

Boren admitted about a year ago that OU only nets about 2 million on their tier 3 TV rights. That's a pretty good indicator that they wouldn't add much value to the SECN.

So not much reason to add unless you think the networks would give a big bump to the SEC T1 and T2 contracts by adding OU.

OSU is a definite no fricking way.

No argument Aggies are badly underperforming in football. Even so our NFL player draft made the OU and TU player drafts look like shite.

Not to mention that since joining the SEC, the Aggies do have 18 conference athletic championships compared to LSU's 6.

Aggie Administration appears to have made it a point to build alliances and not rock the boat. Should pay off if we ever need to block OU from being invited.

Aside from the MS and AL schools, most of the SEC is above Oklahoma academically. He thinks if they get in the B1G the Sooners will get AAU status. Nebraska should have already sized them up on that score.

show me a ranking where ou is ranked above ua or au ... or where most sec schools are ranked above ou ... tia ...

WGAF whether they "are ready for the SEC"? Why would we want them?

I thought there was already a sort of unwritten understanding among Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Kentucky and, I guess, A&M now to block any entry by the other major schools in those states. If so I doubt any of them are worried about FSU, GT, Clemson, Louisville or UT joining, so I don't see any reason why they'd feel the need to join forces to keep out OU, at least not on the strength of that alliance.

I would hope that more than four SEC schools would vote against OU simply because we don't need them in the conference. Oklahoma is a small state that doesn't help the SEC footprint much, certainly not enough to take on another mouth to feed, or possibly even two, if OSU has to come along as a package deal. OU has good athletic teams but it's not like we're hurting for those as it is.

Yeah...thanks for calling out that troll post

Love all the Aggie and Mizzou fans piling in to tell us why adding OU is a bad idea.

Also, all the pussy LSU fans worrying about who they would have to play.

So has anyone in an official capacity within the SEC office expressed an interest in further expansion? Until they do, there really is no reason to speculate.

No worries....
I don't want any of them!
Kinda nice to see them wither on the vine....
Texas has all the money in the world, but they may have to go undefeated to get into the final four...same for OU!
