I don't think you can compare the two series. Had LSU's games against Kentucky been 7 innings LSU would have at least won 2/3. The third game, which A&M didn't play, was tied after 7.

Agree, different animal. A&M & UK went in Sat knowing each had 14 innings to play and adjusted pitching and strategy. It was also a home weekend for UK and not at AB.

In the end though, they still show up the same on the record.

I just noticed this. In the USA Today Poll, A&M's low is 23. Which a-hole put A&M at 23?

It is obvious you don't realize polls mean nothing. How many times every year teams like Alabama in football gets ranked high, no matter what. They lose a game and get knocked down the most two notches in the polls all because of their name.

the hi/low is the highest season and lowest season ranking, not the voting

Reading is hard.

Polls also take in account wins and losses. You have more losses. Example - Kentucky series.

Hard concept huh?

It's so cute aTm fans complaining difference between 1, 2, 3, or 4....

I know yall are new to baseball, but the only thing that matters in college baseball regular season is ending the year top 8. I don't care if LSU is 1 or 8, as long as they are top 8 and are playing good baseball at the end of the year.

Means "very little"? LSU loses series vs Kentucky A&M wins series vs Kentucky

What's your point? Vandy won a national title last year with 21 losses. fricking Fresno St won the national title with damn near a losing record. It means very little at this point. Talk shite after you come to AB!

Referring to the poll LSU is #1 in as "absolute trash" was designed to rile LSU fans up. It worked,so you could be happy. Saying "I don't think LSU is the best team" is a legit, spot on comment. But your initial one was designed to dump on LSU.

If polls don't matter at this point in the season, as a majority of LSU fans posting on this thread have said ad nausea, then why would you be upset about someone calling one of those polls crap?

The last poll (NCBWA) didn't have Mizzou in the top 30 and had tu at 25. They're 17-15 with an RPI in the 80s and on a 7 (maybe more) game losing streak. How in the hell are they ranked? Too many voters are not paying attention.

Kentucky isnt very good. LSU really stunk it up. But so did Kentucky. They may have been the worst fielding team i've seen in a long time.

The fact that lsu lost the series to them was just bad bad.

Farmer,
Don't understand why you are so upset! Like SoS said all I am looking for is for my team to be anywhere in the Top 8 at the end of the season and playing well.
Getting a Regional and a Super Regional is necessary for most teams to make it to Omaha. If nothing else it gives you a leg up to get there.
A&M is having an incredible year, much like the ones Vandy and LSU had a few years back.
I am happy for you Aggies and just hope we can win the series in our back yard April 23 - 25 at The Box.
Winning the SEC gets us nothing, though it would be nice. This isn't football where a loss hurts tremendously. This is baseball and lately LSU has been knocking the snot out of the ball, but as Skip Bertman used to say, baseball fortune has us hitting it right at people right now. That should change and those line outs become gappers.
A&M has done an amazing job after losing your aces. That is why you are ranked so high. Good luck to you until we play.

I am not upset. I am well aware of how baseball works. I have been to more games at Olsen than any of stadium, arena, or ballpark in my life. I've been going to A&M games since I was a 16. I've followed A&M to a half dozen regionals, a few supers, and even the Big XII tourney. Sadly I have not made the pilgramiage to Omaha. All I am doing is discussing the polls. Most have it right with A&M/Vandy/LSU in the top 3. Most have everyone else in about the right spot IMO. However I see glaring mistakes like a team barely over .500 in the top 25 and I comment about them. This is a messgae board. I am trying to spark some college baseball talk.

A few weeks ago I was actually looking into going to Alex Box for the series, but I guess its going to be a big weekend for some odd reason because tickets were basically all gone, but a few singles when I looked.

And I can agree with this, but ranking on name alone makes it a bad poll and at this point I think A&M and Vandy are ahead of LSU. The pollsters are splitting hairs at the top of the polls, but A&M and Vandy have better RPIs and don't have a weekend series loss yet. That should be enough put then 1/2 while LSU is at 3/4.

Do yourself a favor and go look at the baseball stats for the SEC. LINK

There is so much more to a baseball team that W's.

Wins are the only thing that matter honestly but I know what you mean. LSU is in no way ranked high because of their name. They are a really good team this year. Stats do tell that story though. We lead the conference or are top 3 in most major offensive categories. Top 3 in pitching as well

With regards to rankings, no, wins are NOT all that matters.

This thread is about rankings.

WTF? so losses and stats matter? I'm not sure what would matter other than teams winning.
