Actually I think we are done and have concluded the 88 AU D was the GOAT.

Good talk fellas.

The LSU D, while pretty good under Archer, played out of their heads that night.

And, yes, I was one of the 10,364,786 in attendance.

"All time? Not even close."

Lots of ignorance in play right there.

Or jealousy?

Let's take a look at LSU's resume for 2011 ---

+Beat Oregon who won the Pac-12 and the Rose Bowl (40-27)

+Beat West Virginia who won the Big East and Orange Bowl (47-21)

+Beat eventual National Champion Alabama 9-6 in OT

+Beat #3 Arkansas 41-17

+Beat SEC East Div winner #12 Georgia in SECCG 42-10

+Beat Florida 41-1
+Beat Auburn 45-10
+beat Miss St (who was ranked at the time) 19-6

+9 of the 14 games played were against ranked opponents.

At the end of the day, here's the deal:

Had LSU won the 2nd game against Bama, they would have been considered one of the all time great college football teams/champions. Having beaten a who's-who that season.

As it stands, that powerhouse team played Alabama TWICE, and managed ZERO touchdowns.

It hurts to say that, but in all honesty, that Bama defense was LEGIT.

So was LSU's.

2011 was a great defense but the '92 team made a bigger impression on me. That could be because I was young but I had never seen a defense absolutely carry a team like that. Hell, Jay Barker threw for something like 13 yards in the NCG and Bama still blew Miami out.

So...since 1980, can you name 10 better defenses? If you can, then you are an idiot.
