Contrary to popular belief, Bama basketball is a thing. We typically average over 10,000+ in attendance even in our worst years, and we're the 3rd winningest basketball program in the SEC, behind Kentucky and Arkansas (about 5 wins behind Arkansas all time).

What's insane about this list is UCLA @ 22.

I know about your basketball history.

It's just very odd since you've only made one tourney in the last 10 years, facility is a dump, and you dont' really have a name brand recognition.

Keep in mind, I'm not trashing bama basketball, I'm genuinely curious how there are only 19 other teams that are rated as more valuable.

Our facilities as a whole certainly aren't a dump. Coleman is an awful basketball venue because of the layout.

Northwestern is 23rd and they've never made the tourney.

Who cares?

Coleman may not be elite but it isn't a dump. We are in a rut right now but is not outlandish to say we are a top 25 all time basketball program, plus I'm sure dominating football has at least some small effect on that valuation. I don't know how or why, but I'd wager it does.

Just curious as of how this is measured? SEC wins or total wins? Does it count Arkansas wins when they were out of the SEC?

tickets sold, not attended. Bama does well at packaging their baskeball tickets with foolball tickets/donations for the higher football seats.

Actual attendance is around 4k, average compared to the 10k sold

Yes, I know Auburn fans dont attend basketball games

Total overall wins. Until last year, we were ranked #2 all time, behind only Kentucky, and about 30th all time nationally.

That stood out to me as well. Makes absolutely no sense, pretty laughable ranking.

I don't care where it comes from, I'm just curious.

Here's our official "average attendance" up through 2014:
