No arguments hear. I love Gurley and wish we had him. Good luck on this season

The heady stink of abject terror is thick in this thread. Didn't realize everyone was so scared already, figured that would take at leat until after the florida game

I do not believe Cristobal to be anywhere near the same level as Pendry
Unfortunately, this is most likely correct. I am holding out hope Cristobal is close to Pendry, but I think everyone was a bit disappointed by the progress of the offensive line last year.

Monty ya'll will be fine. You've got a Henry.
Exactly, not worried about a thing. Would be nice if Drake could hold onto the ball and stay out of trouble, but can't have it all i guess

I'm still waiting for a barner to tell me why Jeremy Johnson is the best backup QB in the conference

He is good at just about everything, but really isn't great at any one thing.

Honestly, I think he's Bama's John Brantley-- tons of hype since he sat behind a Heisman winning QB, but unlikely to be anything more than average at best (though you could argue Brantley in 2011 prior to his injury was on track to be a third team all SEC type, not a star but good).

Who's a better backup quarterback than Jeremy Johnson?

Please, inform me...I MUST be overlooking someone.

Will Grier maybe but he's probably redshirting.

You must not like Gurley either because Yeldon has almost identical career stats as Gurley.

I don't buy into all this hype. I think 2 national championships and only one Heisman is his ceiling - no more than that.

Well...he ran for 1,108 yards and 12 touchdowns in his freshman season. In his sophomore effort, those stats increased to 1,235 yards and 14 touchdowns. Plus he's averaging 6.1 yards a rush for his career.

His only problem is fumblitis.

Yeah in my opinion Drake has the potential to be Bama's best back. Nowhere near as physically gifted as Henry but his cutting ability is on par with any) in the nation and he runs hard. Not a big Yeldon fan. I obviously don't see what everyone else seems to see in him.

I too think he could be our best back. Drake has speed to burn and some nice moves too. Hope we see plenty of him this year.

Gurley reminds me more of Eddie Lacey and I think that is why I'm such a huge fan of his

I doubt it. Dude can't stay out of his own way, but with A.T. and Jones both being in the dog house as well he may lock up that 3rd back spot. We sure will need at least 3

Saban won a title with Matt Mauck, he will be fine with Coker. Trust me, Bama will be ok.

Agreed. If you can win a national title with AJ McCarron, you can win it with anyone.

Well for starters he hasn't done shite to put him above any other backups
He has experience, has put up good numbers, faced a numerous amount of quality opponents, is being coached by an offensive genius, and was very talented coming out of high school in multiple sports (Mr. Alabama in football and basketball).
quote:

I'd take Robinette as the top backup right now based on experience and talent.
Patten Robinette? STATS: 46/88, 52.3%, 642 yards, 4 touchdowns, 5 interceptions, 10 sacks, 71 carries, 214 yards, 7 touchdowns

Jeremy Johnson? STATS: 29/41, 70.7%, 422 yards, 6 touchdowns, 2 interceptions, 0 sacks, 7 carries, 47 yards, 0 touchdowns

The only reason Patten Robinette has "superior" stats in some phases of the game is because he got to see more time than Jeremy Johnson. He was able to benefit from NOT being behind one of the best quarterbacks in the SEC, Nick Marshall.
quote:

What do you think makes JJ the best?
See first part of post.

Jeremy Johnson is easily better than every back-up in the SEC, and also better than some of the starting quarterbacks.
