Maybe?

No, definitely. Harris started last year but he won't start this year.

And for you to suggest that Harris is in any way a better QB than Etling reeks of desperation.

Well, for starters, we didn't lose the turnover margin 5-0.

So Alabama is the only team that can change from one year to the next?

The fact is that his is a different year, and these are two different teams since last year.

I don't understand this notion that's he's extra motivated finally healthy working his arse off and etc. as any different than years past

Where would he get extra motivation:

-His HC was just fired, so now he is motivated even more to lead this team and help them win.
-His injury absolutely killed him by making him watch on the sideline while Guice went off. He is WAY more rested than last year...like its not even close.
-Got snubbed of the Heisman last year which pissed him off and he knows if he finishes strong he can be in the mix
-This is his last year as a Tiger and his last chance to beat Bama...who he wants to be more than ANYONE.
-He desperately wants to win a championship at LSU and this is his last shot. No way that happens without beating Bama.

These are just a few things

And if you ran those same numbers for pro-style, I formation teams going all the way back to 2008 there have been almost zero games in which Alabama has given up 150+ yards rushing. And, since Alabama started having elite DL in the middle (starting in roughly 2011), there just haven't been any at all. Spread teams with great OLs and good backs (Auburn, Ohio State) have had some success, but nobody running out of I-formation/single back.

UK - 219 - 72
ARK - 160 - 73
TENN - 165 - 32
A&M - 249 - 114

The RB's on those teams don't even come close to LF/Guice in the backfield. The only other rushing attack that is close to be as good as ours is AU.

Brandon Harris 2015 - 130.49 passer rating, 7.8 YPA, 2.2 to 1 TD to INT ratio
Danny Etling 2016 - 136.68 passer rating, 7.7 YPA, 2.33 to 1 TD to INT ratio

Danny Etling has played USM, Ole Miss and Missouri. Harris' stats include Florida, Arkansas, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Alabama.

You can say you think Etling is better because he is better at short routes, but to act like people are crazy for thinking Etling isn't THAT MUCH of an upgrade from Harris last year is ridiculous. Every stat agrees.

Sure they change. But Alabama has consistently, for almost a decade, shut down I-formation offenses from running the football. All of them. Every one. So, the fact that Alabama fans aren't concerned with LF7 winning the football game seems pretty damned rational to me.

You better hope so because it has not come close to happening yet with O as head coach. I have not seen this team play with this type of energy since 2011.

Depends. Is your OL still hot garbage like last year?

That isn't the point - the point is whatever they average Alabama held almost all of them to half or less their normal production.

Add that in with, well, every prostyle offense we have faced in the last 7 years, and logic says LSU will have minimal success running the football. That doesn't mean they will run for 45 yards, but it means that they will probably average 3-3.5 YPC and run for 125-150 yards.

I mean, are you expecting LSU to run for 5.0 YPC and 225 yards or something? I'm just confused what the argument is here.

Can a man get "extra motivated" enough to average more than 1.6 yards per carry vs a brick wall ?

No.

So, knowing that Miles' job was on the line, he was less motivated to win.

You forgot the average yards per game? Where is that stat? Etling threw for over 200 yards the last three games....can you find where Brandon Harris ever did last year? Let me know when you find that...

It's just the truth. You can run on emotion for the first few plays, but after that, it has to just turn into doing your job.

Agreed. LSU averages 240/game and both backs average 8 yards/carry. Bama averages 265/game and has one back averaging 8 yards/carry, one at 7 and one at 6.

TAMU has 2 primary backs: 7.8 yards/carry and one 5
That's the closest comparison.

Whoever stops the run best wins this game.

Harris averaged 180 yards per game. Etling averages 188 yards per game.

10/10/15 - 228 yards vs South Carolina
10/17/15 - 202 yards vs Florida
10/24/15 - 286 yards vs Western Kentucky

Harris did it on 67 throws (10.7 YPA). Etling did it on 76 throws (9.2 YPA).

Also -

11/14/15 - 271 yards vs Arkansas
11/21/15 - 324 yards vs Ole Miss
12/29/15 - 254 yards vs Texas Tech

So.......

Where on earth have I ever said that? I'm not trying to argue...I'm just saying that the rushing attack on everyone of these teams you listed suck in comparison to LF/Guice. Thats all

Will do:

2015 3 consecutive 200 yard games for Harris:

SC - 228 yards
UF - 202 yards
WKU - 286 yards

And I expect LSU to get about 1/2 to 2/3 their yearly average, which would equate to 3.8-4.0 YPC and 130-150 yards. Which would be in line with opponents vs us during the year.
