I can understand the gumps saying they aren't concerned due to how he played the last two games against them, so I won't argue with them on that. But, I will tell you one thing...what I saw that kid do in TS vs OM was the single best performance I have ever seen in that stadium. He was running on a whole other level than I have ever seen him run before. He said he didn't even feel like he played the OM game since he was barely tackled. So he is VERY rested, which was not the case at all last year. He is extremely motivated and just plain pissed off. I'd watch out!

No.

and even if he has a decent game, he isn't going for 175+ yards.

He is a great back but Bamastops the run pretty good. He will get some yards but 175+ NO.

What worries me is pass plays over the top, not sure LSU can do that, but that's what I worry about.

He is a great player and I am concerned about his potential as a play maker. With that said Bama is a very strong TEAM. It will take more than one player to beat them.

1. that was 2 years ago, so half those players aren't on the team anymore.

2. Etling is can complete basic passes, unlike Jennings. Which should make your defense slightly more honest.

3. we don't come out in that same set EVERY PLAY. we actually put more than 1 or 2 WRs on the field.

TL;DR We actually have a semi respectable passing game that makes teams slightly more honest than the last 2 years.

He's a great player who could get loose for a run or two, but considering our track record historically against one back/I formation teams (even ones with very good, balanced schemes) I feel pretty confident anytime we match up against one. Even one with a great player at running back. And, that especially holds true this season.

He may have a good game, but the Bama defense is as good or better than the one he faced last season. Why would Bama fans be worried about him?

Do honestly think you can win this game by simply pounding Fournette ?

You could not be more right...so thank God Miles is gone! All he did the last two years was build that entire O around LF....ever since he was canned? SO many more playmakers have gotten the ball. LF has only played one game since O took over...and we were still setting Offensive records without him. just sayin

Bama only fears good QBs. RBs are nothing.

Serious question. How will anything really change?

Last year:
quote:

Brandon Harris: 6/19, 128 yards

That will change.

Alabama lost to Ole Miss last year, how could anything change?

Alabama has lost at least one game every year since 2009. How could anything change?

Whoever OM's DC is should be fired. It looked like he was trying to throw the game with how they were lining up.

Maybe? Harris' performance coming into the Alabama game last year was far better than Etling's coming into the Alabama game this year.

Well, for starters, we didn't lose the turnover margin 5-0.

Worried, not really. He's a great back and Bama needs to do what they've done in the past to contain him. He will have a better game this year but no where near the 175yard mark.

I don't understand this notion that's he's extra motivated finally healthy working his arse off and etc. as any different than years past. That's exactly what was posted last year along with the same look at the passing game improvements, how Harris was improved and the offense wasn't as predictable and etc. It's not like L5u is running an offense that's radically different from what Bama has played against in the past.

So no, not worried but respect his talent.

Yep - great player, don't except to hold him to historical lows like last season, but LSU's offensive style just isn't conducive to creating a situation where a running back is what makes me nervous. Some big throws down the field? Maybe. LSU defense? Definitely. Consistent smacking in the face by LF7? No.

Any Bama fan that doesn't feel this way is just whistling past the graveyard. It only takes 2 or 3 plays where Fournette gets past the 2nd level to completely change the game a la Ezekiel Elliott. We need to throw it 35 times, utilize Guice early and keep Fournette under 20 carries and fresh for 4 quarters.

If Zeke Elliot had been running out of the I formation with a game manager quarterback I can pretty much guarantee he would not have run for 200 yards.

Again, LF7 is a great player, he will probably have a better game than last year, but on a list of concerns getting gashed by anybody out of that offensive playbook is just not going to be high on the list. For any opponent.

So fricking tired of hearing about LF.

What has he ever won ? Natty ? No. SECC ? No. Division ? No. A game vs Bama ? No.

Nothing.

Henry stole his soul, and uses it as a hood ornament on his crimson dodge charger.

Good rushing offenses normally struggle against Bama.

Opponent Avg Yds Rush/game Rush yds vs Bama

USC - 204 - 64
WKU - 160 - 23
OM - 143 - 101
KSU - 176 - 82
UK - 219 - 72
ARK - 160 - 73
TENN - 165 - 32
A&M - 249 - 114

We'll see how LSU does Saturday. My major concerns are turnovers (primarily punt returns with EJ out), Bama's somewhat limited downfield passing, and a strange injury to Jalen Hurts.
