Jay Jacobs has been on a spending spree lately, largely because that - performatively speaking - the 2012-2013 season was sooo bad in the big three sports, finishing last or damn near close to last in the SEC.

Jacobs opted to make significant investments in all three with Malzahn, Pearl, and Galloway (two are poised to make Auburn some money, one is meh) with all the costs incured from buy-outs and shite. Spend money to make money.

Its the fricking buy outs. Chiz, Barbee, all the assistant coaches. Costs money to clean house. At least Chiz has a job now, so his deal cuts waaay back.

I don't see the big deal.

Don't let reality get in the way.
Countries, companies or individuals that spend more than they make go bankrupt. If it happens one year it can be overcome but it is NEVER a good sign.

Interesting.

Considering they haven't even gone on sale to the public yet.

LSU has a better football program than Auburn in just about every measure you can throw out there.

This is nothing more than a slight down turn or a temporary correction similar to what the stock market might make. They got rid of a bunch of shitty coaches in 3 sports and made significant upgrades everywhere and took a very expensive bowl trip out west; all within a relatively small time frame. It really should not even have been news worthy.

IIRC, SECN revenue was not budgeted into this, however the expense of getting AU ready for the SECN was very costly and was accounted for here.

Auburn has plenty of $ in reserves and this is not an issue in the least bit.

In addition to the video board, we're upgrading the sound system, possibly bricking the exterior of JHS and adding luxury seating. We wouldn't be spending this way if we couldn't afford it and the President DAMN sure wouldn't allow it.

Meh, this doesn't include SEC Network payout which is projected to be in the neighborhood of 20 million.

Except in the one measure used for determining contests in the game of football

So you're saying Ole Miss is a better football program than Alabama?

No way you can make an analogy in which LSU=Alabama with a straight face.
