People weren't really living there to begin with. Those complexes are right next to i85 or alternatively the same road Tuskegee University is on. We get a ton of trash at those complexes.

I remember being confused when I would see a ton fo what looked like Tuskegee students around Auburn. Found out they just commuted from these AU complexes

That place went downhill fast. When I was a freshman a knew several sorority girls that lived there and they never had any trouble. Now it's a total slum.

These things are always the same. You can't believe it happened, and are shocked that a young man died for absolutely nothing. And then you hear the reasoning of the shooter and it makes you embarrassed to be a human being.

RIP young man.

I guess the "mean streets" of Cobb Cty just haven't prepared the Auburn undergraduates for having to live along side…gasp…poor people.

Perhaps you have it backwards and the mean streets of Tuskegee haven't prepared their poor people for having to live along side civilized Auburn undergraduates.

Prayers sent to the victims family. What a tragedy.

I don;t know the area, so I'm just going off the comments of others. If they were decent apartments to begin with, and if there was sufficient demand, I don't understand why they would ever have started taking Section 8. I own rentals in a college town, and I never have and never will. Once you start down that road, it's a dead end. I imagine that now they will start to lose all of there "good" Auburn students, and by good, I mean students who pay their rent on time, take care of the property, and don't cause problems. Once is a coincidence. Twice isn't. But if I'm a student living there, it doesn't matter; I'm getting the hell out. And those good tenants will be replaced with more Section 8s. And yeah, I'd make the place off limits.

Can not believe it. Same place the shootings happened with desmonte Leonard in 2012.

So it was the same place. I don't know what it is about that complex, but there always seems to be shite going on there. Lot of drug deals seem to go down around there too. Unbelievable

Yep. Ever been around that bar above Moe's late at night? Not what I would expect on the Auburn strip at all.

They weren't that nice when I went over there. They needed some updating & IMO they weren't built well at all.

This is unsettling beyond words.
May God comfort this young man's family during this time of unspeakable pain.
My brain can't comprehend the extent of their grief.
I'm truly sorry to hear this, Auburn folks.

What likely happened was everyone broke their lease after the first shooting or refused to renew which forced the owner to go Section 8 to make up the rent loss -- thus starting a downward spiral into slumlord status.
