I am not expecting a 10 win season but to think Ole Miss, arkie and even bama are automatic L's is crazy. It's like you people have never watched Auburn football.

I'll give you this....you are the most unpredictable team I have ever seen.

I hope Jovon stays and has a breakout year.

Crap. he just about has to stay, doesn't he? I mean....didn't he go to JUCO first then Auburn? He would have to leave....sit out a year...then play his final year somewhere? not the recipe for success, I would think.

I've heard that talk. Has Malzahn's offense ever been successful without a dual threat? I honestly don't know. White, I believe is a better option than Johnson, but you know more about your team than I do.

Not directed at me, but

He had success at Tulsa without a DT QB -- not sure if that can translate to SEC

He had success at Auburn with Chris Todd, but we did not beat the top tier SEC teams with him.

I have hope JJ gets it right, I just doubt he can do that at Auburn now.

There was talk of him trying for the draft. As a running back, I can see the logic. Next year will be stacked with RB trying to go pro and the shelf life is just not that long.

Don't stand on formalities. This is a discussion about your team. I want to learn and welcome anybody willing to have a sane conversation.

Wow. I wasn't overly impressed. I mean, I always felt the ability was there, but it just never seemed to work for him in that offensive scheme.

Here is the thing about Auburn.

We have enough talent to make a run most years.

We can also completely implode.

We are the definition of the roller coaster.

Postives are Lawson returning, maybe a DT qb and lots of EE this year. IMO the guy to look out for next year you may not have heard about is Prince Tega. He did not play this year and is extremely raw and only ever played one year of football. He is a 6'8 235 DE.

Negatives are all the coaching changes, the qb situation, ooc schedule and just plain ole being in the SEC (always a tough conf schedule). Also the Oline may be losing more than just Shon.

For the record, I hope Georgia and Auburn are both better next year, the DSOR is my favorite rivalry.

He was easily our best back. He would have a handful of really good runs in the first half of games then vanish for some reason.

I've heard of him. I follow recruiting a little, and remember the name.

My favorite game, too. That one and Florida. They are always entertaining. (Well, the Florida one is not always entertaining.)

You think Malzahn or Lashlee would just pull him from the game and forget him? Barber seemed better to me, but as I said...you guys follow your team closer and know more about it than I do.

This has been fun. It was a nice conversation. Off to do some dreaded honey do chores for the house.

BTW the one series we had I really miss is the Florida game. Always loved that one too and hate we lost it. Would drop A&M and the state of Miss to get them back in a heartbeat.

There's still a lot of talent on the team. This team lost its mojo early on its hard for a team to get out of a funk once it loses confidence.

If we get good QB play and some leaders step up, we could be pretty good. Bad QB play and no leaders again and we might go .500 again

Very unpredictable

If so, then the Clemson game next year is even MORE important and dangerous.

I'm with Higgs. Gotta run. Enjoyed talking to you guys!

Barber is a workhorse. 5 yards and a cloud of dust, tough and durable type player. You know exactly what you'll get out of him, and you won't get much more than that. He won't break many long runs.

Robinson is more talented. He's a game that can make plays and break a game open.

LSU struggles at Jordan Hare, I wouldn't chalk that game an LSU W so quickly unfortunately.

Barber lacks vision, badly. He puts his head down and churns until he goes down. Which isn't necessarily bad most of the time. Won't lose yards often, but often misses holes. Jovon has a knack for seeing holes before they open and knowing when to bounce it out. Plus he's very hard to bring down. Barber is nice 2nd RB that you don't have to worry about putting you in a bad spot, but lacks the skill needed for a #1.

JR is a better back...the talk of going pro for him was mostly internet nonsense. There is really zero reason to draft him over the other 500 back with similar talent. He may leave, we had a guy who didn't start for us last year declare and leave on the OL. But I can't imagine there is any good reason for him to leave.

The QB thing drives Auburn fans nuts. At Tulsa Gus did things without a DT QB and in 2009 he did some things with Chris Todd. However a close inspection of that season shows he didn't do much against anyone with a pulse other than bama. The HUNH was a greater advantage then than it is now as well.

IMO bama has set a standard and if you hope to compete seriously you'll need a DT QB. I saw a stat where bama had 43 HS All Americans and Clemson had 9. DW was the great equalizer last night. Auburn had it in Cam and Nick and we need the next one. I really don't care about arkie, ole miss or msu...if you beat them there is still a bigger mountain to climb in the future if you don't you can't climb that mountain anyway and I really don't care that much about winning 10 games or 9 games and not winning a championship of some sort.
