That is true, but you should be beatable this year as well.

I think Eason is going to be a star, but you have to expect growing pains. I am not sure how your Oline will look. I hope for the best for Chubb, but that injury looked awful.
You guys will have a lot of talent, but they will be learning all kinds of new schemes etc.
I feel better about our chances with you this coming year than the year after.

Incorrect. Winless in conference and getting blown out along with all the team off the field issues got him in trouble.

Because Auburn had no off the field issues this past year? Duke Williams, ring a bell?

n a lot of ways I think for Arkansas that TCU game may be the most important one, even though it is OOC. I feel the same way about the Clemson game.

Both will set the tone.

I agree. And it's a tough draw for you guys to start off with Clemson. As good as they are right now it could turn into a route. If it does and your team gets down it could make for a rough year. Having LSU early won't help, either. I think the A&M game will be a VERY interesting game. Both fan bases would chalk that game up as a win for their guys already.

Maybe you're right, our program is currently in disarray and the wheels may have completely come off the Gus Bus by next November. But your program has far to many unknowns to be confident against any of their SEC brethren at this point in time.

And therein lies the key. BOTH teams going into the season with a lot of question marks and unknowns.

Honestly, you know that does not compare.

One guy versus armed robbery and guns?

People on our board kept trying to equate this year to 2012, it is laughable.

That does not mean this year was not a total collapse, it just in no way compares to how bad 12 was.

How are Ole Miss/Arky losses? You guys lose a lot.

I don't expect the Auburn game to be easy next year, we do lose our QB and Rb which is huge but return almost everything in the two deep on defense. I expect the defense to be much better next year not that it would be hard to after how shitty they were in the pass this year.

I think he could survive a 7-5 regular season, so long as the losses are competitive games against good teams.

Looking at our schedule today, I'd agree that Clemson, Bama and Ole Miss look to be our most likely losses. I'm not ready to concede LSU at home as a loss, given how inept they looked down the stretch. And as I mentioned above, UGa is full of question marks. And Arky loses a ton of offensive production off a team that barely beat us at home.

I'd say we have a shot at 8-4 regular season if all goes well. But in the end, if Gustav doesn't solve our QB problem, it should make it clear that he isn't a long-term solution anyway.

And to the Agg poster who claims our 'measuring tape got longer' because of Bama's NC last night - no. It couldn't get any longer than it was after 2012. Sensible AU fans realize that we will never approach Bama's level while Saban is around. It is what it is.

Our DC just won a national championship with Alabama at his previous gig.

We beat you with, pretty much, a punt return and the wild dawg last year at your place. Unless there's VAST improvement by Auburn, we should be able to handle the gus bus in Athens.

Possibly, but we will have a better QB (WHOEVER it is) ans we will have Chubb back, so there are two things in our favor. And, Auburn will be just as beatable, if not more so than us.

Absolutely. It will probably take him a couple of years to be where he needs to be. However, he SHOULD be better than what we had this past year. (PLEASE!?!?)

Thanks. I am hearing some say he could be ready first game, though. he is a work fiend, so i won't discount it, but you are correct. Nobody will know until the season starts.

I like to troll you guys, but you'll be back sooner rather than later. I've never seen a team that is able to look SO bad one year and play for a Natty the next. You can never count you guys in for a championship, but you can never count you guys out of a championship.

I wonder who Auburn would go after if they canned Gus after next season. There are several other SEC teams that could be looking for new coaches, too.

We should all be honest. None of us should really feel that confident going into next year. Unless you are pulling in the number one recruiting class every year, you are always unsure what you will have until the first few games.

What baffles me about Arkansas is they have shown a habit of starting out slow (or honestly, looking really bad) and then getting much better even as they play much stronger competition. If they ever start out fast, look out.

True. But he probably could have saved him and the team a LOT of grief had he kicked him the year before when the troubles first started.

And here's how the rest of Bama's SEC opponents have fared in that same stretch:

Arky 0-8
Florida 1-5
UGa 0-3
UK 0-3
LSU 2-7
Mizzou 0-2
MSU 0-8
Ole Miss 2-6
SCar 1-1
TAMU 1-3
Tennessee 0-8
Vandy 0-1

So, yeah, we've held our own, compared to everyone else.

They won despite of his defense. Maybe you should've hired Lane Kiffin. Then you might have a point.
