I don't understand why so many people think that Gus isn't a great hire.
In 5 years against the toughest conference in football:
1) 2 SEC championship appearances
2) National championship appearance
3) 2 NY6 appearances
4) 2-3 against in state rival and one of the greatest dynasties in college football.

There have been mistakes, yes, but he's a few plays away from a national championship.
Also, there's not another coach in the SEC that has beaten Saban once, he's done it twice and this year pretty convincingly. He has been stubborn as a HC, but toward the end of the year it really seemed that some growth and changes were made.

No thanks. I'm not a Gus fan, but Kirby is McElwain 2.0.

He's 45-21, like .680 winning percentage or something like that. Has been ranked in the ap top 10 during the year since at Auburn if I'm not mistaken.

It was mostly about coaching bama until title game...total say on coaches (I suspect our PTB weren't going to be ok with running Rodney) and a few other things. People tend to forget things, but in 2012 Kirby wasn't a more attractive coaching candidate than Gus as well.

21 losses in 4 seasons without miracles?! Damn that's bad. What low standards y'all have.

5 seasons. Kirby has lost 6 games in 2 years in one of the easiest divisions in college football.

Keep beating that chest and ignoring the fact that UF will be back. One year doesn't make a coach. He has a great season this year beating up on an awful East, but talent doesn't always equal wins.

Yeah that has been discussed a lot and that seems ridiculous to me that Jacobs and AU would take that position......

True.....Gus had a brilliant first year and this year was very good as well although it came up short. The period between has been pretty mediocre but would expect another solid year. He has held his on against Saban though and at AU you have to beat Bama at least some of the time and he has done that....

How many years of mediocrity did UGA accept between Richt's last SEC title and him leaving for Miami?

Uf will be back to what? They are now and have been an avg program.

Kirby beat up on their new coach from the west, Notre dame, and the west champ so you can't chalk it up to the east being shite.

Chalk it up to Properly trained talent.

Try to explain that stupid claim.

The math doesnt lie:

8-5,7-6,8-5, and likely 10-4 is 20 losses in 4 seasons.

UF is back, so they fired their head coach? You beat two of the worst UF and UT teams in a long time. Norte Dame
Yeah you beat the SEC west champ after they sodomized you 3 weeks before that.

It's like nobody here has ever followed football before 2017. You don't know shite about Kirby for another couple of years.
