isn't Dyer only 20 years old? How could he possibly own a pistol? It was a pistol that was used correct? Sounds like his gf could get into big trouble if she purchased the firearm, it ended up in these teenagers hands, and she didn't report it stolen.

If in fact it is Dyer's weapon (or his girl's) is that not, like, aiding and abetting or something?

If they can prove he knew the weapon would be used in a crime then sure it is. I doubt they can prove this though or he would have been charged by now (that's assuming it was his gf's gun in the first place).

§ 13A-11-57. Selling, etc., pistol or bowie knife to minor.

Any person who sells, gives or lends to any minor any pistol or bowie knife, or other
knife of like kind or description, shall, on conviction, be fined not less than $50.00 nor
more than $500.00.

I'm not sure if they could tack on anything else since the weapon was used to commit a crime but if not than the above would be her charge.

I bought a pistol and had a concealed carry permit when I was 19.

If by registered you mean ownership or reciept of sale is kept on file, they most certainly are............just not by the government. It is required by the feds however, that the gun store keep records for so many years. How do you think they are able to run the serial numbers and trace them to gun stores from which they can determine who the gun was sold to?

wow, that's not very strict at all. Since it was used in a felony crime, maybe they could/would tack on other charges....just speculating though

the gun still isn't "registered" in your name. When you sell it to somebody FTF, you don't switch over the registration to that person, cause there's no such thing.

I'm still not comprehending how this is legal, but I'm guessing it's some crazy bama loophole or something

one of our players. This guy is a huge AU man. I trust him. He has a friend who's son is an AU police officer. Second time this week that the officer has been called to this particular location. Do not want to go into further detail for obvious reasons. Not looking for details because I received an earful. Just checking to see if anyone else has heard anything?

You are right to some extent. Anytime a gun is sold or resold by a gun shop, record of who the gun was sold to is kept on file by them. That does not hold true to unlicensed dealers such as person to person sales because private individuals are exempt from the law.

....so it would be correct to say that licensed dealers are required to keep records of all sales. It is essentially "registered" to the first point of sale by them.

You purchased from a private individual, no FFL will sell to anyone under the age of 21, if they do they are idiots as the feds look for reasons to shut down gun shops. The only exceptions I'm aware of to get a CCP under the age of 21, since technically by federal law you can't own a handgun, is if you are former military or police.

The gun isn't registered to a soul, nearly all states do not require you to "register" your CCP weapon since you can have multiple CCP weapons. The only thing that is kept on file is who the purchaser is, original purchaser, and if the weapon is sold to a lic. FFL dealer they can resell and keep track of who purchased it second hand.
